so what's the final official word, do first semester grades count or not? i know that if you get put on a waitlist, you may want to send them in, but do schools acually ask for them, do colleges automatically send them in? what if your GPA is not an issue (at least not the weak part of your application) and it's been constant?

-tell me if it's more than optional to send in your grades.

thnx

Dude- i'm praying to any God that'll listen to PLEASE LET ME IN BEFORE MY GRADES COME OUT. I'm absolutely certain that i'll be at least a point (yes, as in 3.0 vs. 2.0) lower than my cum this semester. Personally i don't care, but i don't want adcoms to! --Trek

ps: sorry i couldn't help with your qn, but i dont' know honestly

Jova to your rescue!! Not to Worry!!

The answer is: No. They will not ask you for your grades! Once you have submitted your application to AMCAS, that is your GPA.

I worried the same thing as well when I applied. I filled out my application the Summer after my Junior year. I gave AMCAS my grades for my first two years and 2/3 of my Junior year (we were on the quarter system and our spring quarter grades weren't ready yet). So the med schools did not see any of my grades from my senior year and part of my junior year. None of the schools requested updated transcripts!!! -- This was very good because my GPA went down quite a bit and I started to take most of my classes Pass/Fail. It was great. (I don't believe in grades anyway.)

Word of caution: Do not get too carried away with P/F grading or slacking off. You do NEED to graduate!

Have fun and do some things that you won't be able to do next year.

Good luck,
Jova

watcha- always going the low road 🙂 When i read my post for the first time that did strike me, but i thought 'nah, pre-meds- who's gonna notice?" :-0 --Trek

i cant tell you guys how much that means to me. i am soooo burned out you cant imagine. are any of you guys just TIRED? like seriously tired of worrying about work and studying? this is exactly why i applied EDP, but now that i didn't get in, it ended up completely going the opposite. ive been doing secondaries non-stop and have fallen way way way behind in all my classes.

thanks for the good word dude.

I'm exhausted...and very burnt out. Between working in the lab and being a TA for two courses and dealing with med school stuff, I haven't had the energy to study at NEARLY the level I used to. I'm struggling just to get B's this semester. Hopefully if I get an acceptance, med schools will let me slide with a B's and C or so in my senior year because there's no way I can continue at this pace AND still pull straight A's. At least I was able to apply before these new-founded feelings of slackerness began...

I don't think most schools care..but some do. Loma Linda's secondary specifically asks you to keep them updated as you get new grades.

alright then, let's start a new thread on which schools ask for new grades and which dont...

Dude, you need to get laid or something 😀

here try this phone

1-800-HOT-BABES (request Anglina, (if she is not available, ask for Cynthia, she's good too 😉)

hehe 😀

ok, how many people ACTUALLY thought 1800HOTBABES is a real number?
🙄

well shame on you, ur so gullible 🙂 first of all, phone chats of this nature are usually not 800 numbers....I think 😀

did I just make myself look EXTREMELY stupid in front of the ladies? 😎

this totally depends on the school--my impression is that most school DO want updates. i applied to 20 and i only remember ONE of these not wanting any additional materials.

again, it depends on the school, but an acceptance may only be revoked usually if you get below a C in a course. so a dip in GPA isn't going to get you kicked out. then again, if you're trying to get off waitlists, then you need to keep your grades up.

How much are interviews and having to miss some classes affecting everyone's grades? I've only had a couple so far, but they've come at the most inopportune times. I don't always go to class, but I like to make an appearance or two before an exam. Anyway, do adcoms realize how busy a lot of us are with classes, activities, and interviews? I would think this would factor in if there's a significant deviation from one's normal grades. Hopefully, they'll go easy on us. I'm burnt as well.

Heya ppl. NJMS asks for a final transcript and so my acceptance there is contingent. Thankfully I'm not in school anymore!

Heya, you're from Cali and taking a lot of stuff P/F. Are you at Santa Cruz? Just wondering, coz I just graduated from there.

Hi guys,
In my case it would actually be beneficial to submit updated grades at the end of this semester. I am banging out the 4.0 and it will definitely raise my cumulative nicely. Do I have to go through AMCAS again or do I just mail an updated transcript to the schools at semester's end?
Thanks for the input. 🙂

E'01,

All schools will require a "final transcript" of admitted applicants. They need to verify that you indeed graduated. If you are applying during your senior year of college, then the grades on your final transcript won't factor into the admissions decision.

Rumit,

I did not go to UC Santa Cruz; though it is a beuatiful school. At most schools with a letter grading system you can also choose to take courses Pass/Fail if you want. (However, there are restrictions on how many courses may be taken Pass/Fail.)
