Has anyone done an elective posting as a first year student? Am currently a first year and am planning to post to cardiology/ cardiothoracic surgery depts. Was wondering if I require a certain knowledge level prior to posting as usually electives are done in the fourth year.

Does your school let you do electives as a first year? We are only allowed to have a 2 week block for a single elective in third year and our bulk of them is not until 4th.
