Hi guys,
I'm stuck on this AAMC question:

"The human vocal cord can be thought of as a fixed string. The length of the cord is 15mm. What is the fundamental frequency of the sound? Assume the speed of the sound is 3 m/s"

I used f = V/2L and plugged in the correct units. However, they used 30mm instead of 15mm. Is there something I'm missing here?

Oh God I'm an idiot. They just multiplied out the 2... ignore this thread.

Just wondering, is this from the aamc guide questions or the FL? I haven't done any of the AAMC stuff yet so I haven't encountered any of the new "biological" physics & chemistry questions yet.

Is this how the new physics/chem questions are asked? If so, I feel a little more reassured b/c I thought the "biological" applications to the physical sciences would be extremely hard

This is from the "AAMC Official Guide" it was a 120 question test (30 per section) of 2015 material.
It was a discrete question, by the way. The passage based questions are pretty damn hard in my opinion. They are heavily based on research-based interpretation. I feel like they are less content based and more based on passage analysis. I did notice most of the physical sciences questions had a biological basis.

Which I feel like could actually be easier - if we had more practice tests. However we only have 1.5 so we're kind of on our own 😛
