Hi all🖐
I really need your help.

I'm a high school student in grade 11th and I'm really passionate about music and singing .
I like to study music in university but my dad thinks that I can't make it big and I end up nothing 😒
and he REALLY WANTS me to study a field in medicine, so he was planning to send me to a boarding school in UK in which I can apply for best med schools 🤕🙄

I know It's a great plan but HONESTLY I can't let go of my dream and I also know It's good to have a backup plan in case It doesn't work💁‍♀️

So what I want to know is that :
Is there any medical field which has flexible and good hours and less amount of working
( and schooling ) so that I will be able to pursue my dreams and something I can practice well, take off my white coat and go for a tour when I want to, then go back .

Is there such a field in medicine?
It would mean a lot if you help me🌝

I know the UK has a different education system than the U.S. but, even so, assuming you are talking about being a physician, medicine is really not the type of field one goes into as a “back-up.” If you don’t fundamentally want to be a doctor, the process of getting there and the work itself once you do are going to be miserable.

My recommendation is that you pursue music if that’s what makes you happy. If your father is exerting leverage to try to get you to be qualified for a decent job as a fall-back, I would try to negotiate with him to pursue some other practical occupation that doesn’t involve being a physician. The job just isn’t going to be worth it if you don’t actually want it.

That being said, there are several specialties that can accommodate your musical interests as a practicing physician. These are going to be the oft-cited fields that provide better/more flexible lifestyle and offer jobs with minimal weekend responsibilities. Psychiatry, certain anesthesia positions, dermatology, physiatry and a variety of primarily outpatient fields might be good for this. Still, you fundamentally need to decide if you want to be a physician before thinking about any of that.

Well there’s a ton. Your father is probably fake and you being a doctor. In which case you should look at the doctor qualifications in the UK versus the US. Figure out what you want to do you can also go into music education and do other things with music other than just singing. Get all your options and see what one works for you.
Well can you please name few of the careers out of the tons you said ?
You mean " vocal coach " or sth like that ?I know but I'm really fond of singing
To be honest I also like acting very much I told them and they said the same thing 😔

Thanks for your answer.
To be honest, he wants me to study medicine because of the prestige, the position that It provides me with in the society and the money, so that I can live happily without any financial problems.
He doesn't consider singing as a reliable and safe career, above all he ABSOLUTELY doesn't believe me that I can make it big with singing .😔

I'm currently thinking of dental hygenist,Health Fitness Specialist, occupotional therapist, speech pathologist , audiologist and nutritionist.

And can you also give some examples of the good non medical professions ?
And lastly if you were in my place what choice would you make ?

NSGY: super lenient, cush residency, lots of vacation time, oh did i mention easy to match into?
Are you joking ?!
Do you mean a neurosurgeon ?
I need to study for at least eight years to become one !!
I mentioned that I want sth quick and easy .

Maybe something like private practice internal medicine (group practice). Either way at some point you're going to have to make some sacrifices.
