Anyone from Florida A and M in here? I am interested in applying to this school, but was wondering if it is almost exclusively for minorities? If you are a student there, what has your experience been like?

Hey I go to Florida A & M University! Im currently in my last year of pharmacy school and I wouldnt have chosen any other pharmacy school to go to! 😀

It is a historically African-American university (HBCU) however, it is still pretty diverse especially in the pharmacy school. I am Caucasian and I have been here since my freshman year straight out of high school.

Applying out of highschool is your best bet with FAMU for anyone really. When applying to the program itself (P1-P4) if you already have a degree or have been in college, it is very competitive. However, in the recent years there has been a LOT more transfers so chances are getting better.
The current P1 (3rd year) class has the most transfers our school has seen.

It never hurts to apply either

Yea, I already have a B.S. and a doctorate (DPT) in physical therapy. As long as I do well on the PCAT, I shouldn't have too much of a problem--at least I hope not. Thanks for the reply!

This is my second time applying. First time all I had was a BS in Biology. I guess I applied to close to the deadline because I got a rejection letter like 3 weeks after (boy was I crushed). So I went back to the drawing boards and got a Masters (& 3.7 GPA) and reapplied 2 months ahead of the Feb 1st deadline. This time I am hoping that they accept me, if not I guess FAMU might not be for me. Good luck to everyone🙂

My nephew is an associate prof in the astronomy dept at Fl uni.
Also someone who was at college with me in the 50s was a prof of pharmacy. Gainesville is a university town and good place to live in.

I called up there about two days ago and they told me that they are still entering peoples information😱. Well I guess we will have to wait and see how long it will take them to get out the first few interview letters😱. Anyone who gets an interview letter from FAMU can you please post when it was date marked. By the way did anyone else apply to FAMU for fall 2010. Good luck again
