Hi all,

Currently have a job in the northeast that is just “ok”. We have family in throughout Florida, so I wanted to get an idea of what market looked like in the sunshine state to see if it is worth sticking this one out vs. leaving for greener pastures. I have read on here that locums market is not favorable in the state, but what about other opportunities? Currently have a job that allows a mix of solo/supervision, paid ~50% based on MGMA data (ie, likely underpaid given national market). Thanks!

Where in FL is your family? There are a lot of Envision/USAP/TeamHealth type jobs in FL, and they would probably fit in the category of "OK."

We have family in Sarasota and Jax but aren’t necessarily tied to those locations vs elsewhere. Have lived in Tampa and Naples previously.

All these jobs pay between 450-550k and usually it averages out to 10 weeks paid off. Plus /minus 50-100k (2-3 year sign on bonus) in 90% of the Florida metro areas.

Average workload generally isn’t bad. Around 45 hrs worked.

Some places run it differently. Some with 13 weeks off. Some with 17 weeks off. Some with up to 30 weeks off. The 20- 30 weeks off jobs fill extremely quickly. Due to the compress work schedule and it does involve calls in a compressed period. Like 7 calls in 14 days give or take.

It all depends what you are looking for.

Sarasota seemed like a good position to me… income seemed good, sovereign immunity, sounded like a nice place to work…. I only spoke on the phone to them but liked them… location wouldn’t work for the husband so I went elsewhere but i remember thinking Sarasota sounded like a good gig

Sarasota Memorial is a good gig from what I've heard from someone working there now; I don't think they have any openings though.
