I currently attend a private university (finished soph year) in Florida, but my family/me are from NJ. I want to become a florida resident, because I want to go to medical school here. I got a florida drivers and registered to vote. Also my parents are not listing me as a dependent on their tax forms. If I register my vehicle and declare my domicile in florida, I have a house I rent with friends, does this make me a florida resident? I know people have said you need to live in florida for 12 months, not including education purposes. Will med schools acdoms "check" on this, or will proper tax/leasing/forms make me in state, or will they put me in the OOS bin.
