They told us that the committee meets every tuesday night (they project each interviewed applicant's app on a huge screen and read through it), and then make the calls the next day on wednesday.

Those of us who were interviewed on the 24th of sep. or 1st oct. were supposed to be notified on the 15th of oct.
 
Just called USF's admissions office, and they said they were following the AAMC rules strictly - which states that allopathic schools must notify those acceptees after business hours on October 15th (clearly some schools aren't following this protocol). Thus, she said the Dean of Admissions will call those who interviewed on and before Oct. 1 tomorrow (Tuesday). I asked her approximately what time - she said she didn't know. Hope this helps!🙂
 
I heard something similar to inthecity's news as well. FSU said they can't legally call anyone before operating hours on the 15th due to AAMC restrictions. However, I have heard of USF calling some people late on the 15the to give them the good news. If you interviewed in early October, the decision has already been made at this point. More people should be getting news either tonight or def. tomorrow morning. I've heard of some applicants getting the "call" past midnight. Yes, it has been known to happen. Good luck to everyone who've already gotten acceptances! USF should be dishing them out really soon.

Yeah, it happened to someone I knew at USF who is a second year now. Got called around a quarter past midnight. Needless to say, he was pretty happy after he dragged himself out of bed to answer the phone.

i was having the same problem, but here's how you fix it:

their email is written as [email protected]

BUT! if you delete the "lyris" part, so that it says "[email protected]" it gets through just fine...all the other health emails at USF follow this hsc.usf.edu format, so I thought I'd give it a try, and it works! Also, Dr. Koehler wrote back the same day, so it's pretty quick. Not as quick as calling, I suppose...:luck::luck::luck:
 
Thanks a lot for clearing that up..I've been waiting since 9:30am for the call. I'm drained now.:scared: I'm glad USF is following protocol. That's very professional of them. Goodluck to all of you👍
 
What is up with USFs website and e-mail? First I couldn't get through with an e-mail and now I can't even pull up the website. I don't know what is going on.

Yeah Umichigan back in the 2005-2006 cycle was giving people calls at 12AM the night of the 15th.

My Miami interview went really well. The doctor asked ALOT of questions, but was very friendly and laid back, so it wasn't stressful, just kept you on your feet. Additionally I was amazed by the size of the patient base at Jackson Memorial as well as the UM gym... wow! Overall I had a very good experience there.

On a very important side note.... WHERE IS USF??!? They are killing me. Has anyone been called/called them about the interview decisions today?

I know how you feel. I'm still waiting to hear something from them. My gut tells me it's going to be any minute now.👍👍

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! Oh and if you haven't already and this goes to other people, please post interview experiences and questions on SDN feedback for the respective schools so we can keep it updated for the new year.
 
I wonder what's going on with FSU. Has anyone heard from them? They told me the 16th is when they would send out the results for my group. hmm.
Congrats on the USF acceptances! I only wish I could get an invite from them soon.
 
Has anybody been invited to interview at Miami between yesterday and today?.....b/c I just called admissions, and she told me that a decision was made about granting me an interview (very vague) and it would be e-mailed to me at some point (even more vague)



What about FSU and USF?.....any recent invites?
 
FSU called this morning at 10am...
 
yes they left a message to call back since I was in class.
 
I got an acceptance call from FSU around 10 this morning!!! I answered the phone in the middle of the lab I was teaching and after I heard the good news I told them all they could go home b/c I was too happy to stay there.

In reference to some other posts, the woman told me that they would be sure to contact everyone who interviewed before whatever cut off date they had, today for sure.
 
medguy or anyone else who interviewed at FSU...are there others out there that didnt hear anything???!!! What the heck is going on? Did anyone call? Is this a bad sign?
 
well right now it's 9:18am and I'm still waiting to hear something from them (FSU). I still don't think it's a bad sign not getting a call yesterday. I assume there are at least 20-30 or so people they have to call. I'm still hopefull that they'll call today with good news.

does anyone know if FSU sends out acceptances constantly or do they only send them on specific dates (like oct. 15, dec 15. etc...) ???
 
thats good to hear. Are you going to call? For those that were accepted yesterday, when did you interview?

From what was told to us (Sept. 28th group) they would start calling on the 16th; leading possibly through the 17th as well. They didn't mention to us anything about specific weekly or monthly dates. Hopefully, they won't forget about us. If they don't call today I'll def. email or attempt to contact the admissions dept. to find out what's going on. I've got a feeling they'll finish calling everyone in the early groups today.

i havent heard about neone getting a miami invite in a while.. maybe well here something this week.. i keep hearing different things.. i called and they said the admissions committee was meeting last week, but my buddy called and he was told they are meeting this week.. so who knows😕

I was given an acceptance to FSU also! They called at 9 AM on the 16th, and are very friendly.
 
For those who received acceptances from UF or have any information, I was wondering if I may ask a question. Do they call you if accepted, and follow that up with a snail mail acceptance, or do they just send acceptances/holds/rejections via snail mail? I interviewed there already (in September), and am anxiously waiting.

Dendrite - I interviewed early in sept. and they told us that they couldn't tell us anything official until Oct 15th. That being said they also mentioned that sometimes your interviewer(s) may give you a call before then to tell you that he/she/the committee was excited about your application. So don't worry if you haven't heard yet as your interviewer may not have been that type of person. Consequently, your official acceptance could still be in the mail. Myself and a friend both received a phone call after the interview just saying they enjoyed meeting with us and an "official" call on the 15/16 of Oct. Also I still haven't received my letter in the mail. So that is just my 0.02. Hope that helps.
 
These Florida acceptances before I even get an interview are gonna be the death of me...at least there haven't been too many at USF or Miami, that would have just set me off...

In any event, I called Miami today and arguably the nicest lady on earth told me that they would be looking over the remaining batch of earlier packets tonight...she also mentioned that it could take up to a month for those that are complete to even be considered for an interview sometimes...In addition, I tried calling USF today in between some last minute studying for a Bioethics exam and could not reach anyone after 3 or so tries so I gave up on that(anyone else notice USF is hard to reach on Wednesdays especially?) Rumor had it that they were reviewing packets last night and would be notifying potential interviewees later in the week or next...Has anyone gotten a hold of them or know if there is any validity to this? Much appreciated:luck:

We review applicants every Tuesday night, that is correct. Those applicants were notified today of the decision. It is strange that no one answered in the admissions office today though.

Thanks for the info, man...Much appreciated😀-so I take it if we didn't hear from them today we just have to wait/hope till next Wednesday to find out?
 
yea im not sure how it works.. i was complete at usf on a friday.. and offered an interview the following tuesday.. does the committee sometimes meet on mondays?
 
hey guys, i was wondering if anyone had heard anything from miami yet? i applied in early june and had all my application packet completed by early august. i called the lady at the admissions committee (she was very nice), and she told me that my file was under review by the committee. does it take this long for them to reach a decsion? the thing is that i'm from texas, which might be a problem because of oos. but i've already interviewed at all schools in texas (last one was in mid-August). someone please tell me what miami is up to!!
