Part three already? Cool...

I wanted to say a late congratulations to CubanDoc! Sorry I didn't do it before.

Ok fellow floridians...
start voting so that we can be 5 stars again
😀 😀 😀 😀

I voted too. 🙂

Good job on closing out two threads, guys. I think you put those of us from least year's cycle to shame. 😉

Yeah but at least you guys had Red Tide going?? 😛 😉

for those newbies, that was an inside joke.

Im at the waitlist at UM, hoping by the end of april they start dipping into the list. May 15 couldn't come any sooner. 🙁

Yeah, but I got booted by Burnsie herself for a new tambourine player. 🙁 Eh, Red Tide is a has-been one-hit-wonder anyway. :meanie: 😛

Did you just find out today? If so when did you interview?

I know how you feel, I am also waitlisted at UF and USF and accepted at FSU. For me, FSU just doesnt have the program that I am looking for..not that it is a bad school mind you...just not for me....look at their 4th year required rotations (and they only allow 2 electives in each specialty..wtf?!?) Also, 1st year histology and neuro in fall? Classes arent balanced well over the 1st 2 years. I just dont know...there are also so many things not soley curriculum based that I am not too fond of.Because I believe I would possibly regret 'throwing in the towel' too soon, I am waiting until the last possible minute before choosing fsu (and may make an appt. to speak in person with larkin or the dean) before deciding to go with FSU. I feel like I am being 'trapped' by the programs early start date...and thats not a good feeling! Hopefully the top tier at USF starts moving soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Dont give up! :luck:

You should talk to students at FSU and see what they gave to say. If you have that many concerns about FSU, then you should wait before you commit.

Are you high-tier waitlisted at USF? I'm sure you know that that's a good thing.

Good luck!!!

🙂

I plan on talking to as many current students as possible. See...one of my interviewers gave me a subtle warning about the school (telling me to, essentially, go somewhere else unless its the only place I am accepted) which started this whole questioning process 😱 So, sorry if I am a lil negative on the school, Im just trying to sort things out in my own mind!

Yes, high tier at USF 🙂

Well I'm also on the upper/ high tier waitlist at USF so I don't think that I won't get in. I just liked FSU better. I hear all of the concerns, but life is what u make it. I'm gonna make FSU work for me 🙂

Like I said in Part II (not sure if you saw my post before it got closed), if YOU like FSU better, that's what matters. You're the one who has to live with your decision, not your friends. You can definitely get a great education at FSU if you put in the time and effort. :luck: to you. 🙂

Daisy and BBall,
Follow your gut instincts. Both of you are in the same situation in terms of acceptance and waitlist. However one of you liked FSU better and the other liked USF better.

Not a bad situation at all where you essentially have options that a lot of students would love to have.

Don't worry Daisy you're trying to make an important decision, just make it an informative one.

I guess it's always scary when an interviewer actually says to go elsewhere....what was your reaction to him/her? 😕

Take care and good luck daisy and bball! 🙂

Daisy did an interviewer at FSU say not to come or an interviewer at another florida school? I had an interviewer at another florida school speak very bad about FSU's program and tell me that I should really go somewhere else if possible. I wonder about ppl like that. no school has been around forever...no school began without kinks. its to be expected. I am not uninformed by no means. I understand my decision and its ramifications for my career. the things that most matter to me are what have guided my decsion. I don't want to be just another number. I want to be somewhere that makes me feel wanted and accepted. My brother and sister are both in tallahassee finishing their bachelor's so it will be great to be around family. Botom line each person has to evaluate what's important and what's not, what they will give up and what they won't. Good luck with ur decision. 🙂

Well in that case, go where your heart is! I dont think its a bad decision to not wait around for other acceptances if you have already been accepted by a school that you love...thats awesome 🙂

It was actually one of my interviewers at FSU. I wouldnt have thought too much about it if it was a 'competing' school.

Hopefully the top tier at USF starts moving soon!

My guess would be that most of the top tier folks should be hearing more towards early May. That's my guess based on my own experience and also knowing that's when most decide one a single school and drop their other multiple acceptances opening up spots. Hope that helps.

I'm hoping the list gets some movement after the final decisions are made on April 11th (assuming this is the last date with interviews at USF ending on April 2nd, today).

I am hoping as well. I know most of the movement will not be until May, but there is a possibility that there will be a few people who will decline their acceptances before then.

No pipedream, he found out a while ago. Are you still waiting to hear? I know some guy in my lab has been waiting going on 6 weeks now! grrr

Does anyone know if UM sends post-interview rejections via email or snail mail? I was just curious, because I would hope they email the decision as soon as it is made, regardless of what it is.

Im pretty sure their rejection is via snail mail.

I called admissions and they said that they send every decision via email, then follow it up with a hard copy

I have a friend who was rejected post-interview last year and he only heard via snail mail. No email...maybe it has changed this year, but it seems the office gives a lot of contradictory information.

I believe last year, however, they had that status page thing where you could track your application progress. They have had that for years until this year when they got rid of it for whatever reason. Also, it might be different for waitlist/acceptances and rejections.

I know when my former classmate (an M3 at Miami currently) applied in 2003-2004 school year, she was given her acceptance notification via email and mail. So perhaps it depends on whether it is an acceptance or rejection.

Has anyone nterviewed around March 12, and heard anything from UM yet?

Just got accepted to UF COM today!

Im pretty sure their rejection is via snail mail.

First off, CONGRATS!!!!!!!   :hardy:

Secondly, do you have any idea where you plan on going next year???

Or are you unsure now that you have to make a decision since you have more then one option???

Congrats again!!

My interviewer called and so did my Professor (who is on the adcom).

I will definitely be taking the second look at both schools (UMs is unofficial). Its really nice to have a choice though. Each school has its pros; UM has unreal clinical experience, UF has unreal board scores. After dancing in the streets last night for the championship, I have another reason to celebrate.

same boat here... not a bad position to be in! 😀

Definitely Go GATORS, but you know, a Hurricane every so often isn't so bad 😉

Wow I haven't seen you on here in a long time!!! I remember back when you were struggling with the MCAT and apps the previous round. Congrats on getting the same options as Facewit!!! Good luck deciding. I'm glad to see it worked out for my fellow Tampa Bay neighbor. 😉

😀 😀 😛

Does anyone know what is the chance to get off the waitlist from U of Miami for an out of state student?

Congrats for those who got into UF COM! Woot! Go GATORS! I was definately more impressed this time around when I went to interview. I had gone through interviews for thier Junior Honors program 2 years ago, and this past experience was much MUCH better. I def. applaud those who got in!

Unfortunately, I didn't get that exciting acceptance call tho 🙁...so I'll be waiting for snail mail! Its okay though, I'll just play the waiting game with them. Except they said at interviews that they don't rank thier waitlist?! (Is this true?😕 ) Eeeks. They said that means you must continue to update your file in order to compete to get off the waitlist. -- which I'm not sure much will be happening for me... considering if I don't get taken off the waitlist by the time FSU starts, I'll be heading to Tally...so nothing new for me can really start! (Any tips to increase my chances?)

On the otherhand, I'm attending FSU's early orientation (Raise your hands if you are too!!) But I can't seem to find any info on it. A few days ago thier website had an agenda and stuff, but I can't locate it anymore. I believe it starts at 9AM this Friday... but I don't know where it is, when it ends or of course... the attire 🙂 . Any info would be appreciated!

Again congrats and good luck to all! 🙂 :luck:

I'll be there for most of the day Friday. I think the agenda is posted under your acceptance packet online, so log into that and see if it's there. See you Friday!

And in the email they sent out over the weekend, they said dress is casual.

Wierd. I couldn't find it on my acceptance packet... though that is where I found it last time. And I also didn't get that e-mail....😕

Ah ha! Just what I needed! The first post I see on my acceptance packet, but previously they had a .pdf file that delineated the days' events. I think they took that down. But the e-mail answers all the questions! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!😀
