After searching and searching, I have finally found the Mint M&Ms!!!

And all I can say is WOW :wow: --they totally exceeded my expectations! These are the best invention ever!

Where did you find them?

CVS

In other random M&M news, I went to the website last night (I was beginning to wonder if these things really existed!) and found the coolest thing! Did you know you can have your own message printed on M&Ms?!?!?

you can have 2 lines of 8 characters each--I'm thinking (for us UM people), we should order orange and green ones that say:

FUTR MDs
UM MSM

Ok--I know that's so dorky...but I like dorky stuff 😛

Oooo! Even better! Ok its official, at the white coat ceremony I'm bringing some of these M&Ms.

[Edit] on second thought, maybe I'll save them for another UM special occasion....hot miami weather + chocolate + WHITE coats = not good!

Go to CVS, guju. Hurry, before Burnsie gets them all.

Haha  I found them at CVS but I don't think they're at all of them. I couldn't find them at the one by my house (the CVS by MacDittons on Howard). If you live in Brandon, they have them at the CVS on Kingsway and 60

And as I'm writing this, I am ashamed to say the bag is gone. I have NEVER done that before. I can't believe I ate an entire bag of M&Ms....I'm not feeling too good :scared:

I would just like to say, that after a month straight of being in Boston, maybe the worst day of my recent life, and 20 straight hours of sleet, I am HOME in Florida! And the U was looking mighty good coming home from the airport.

Tomorrow I'm going to go to the 43 CVSes in a four block radius of my house, and I'm going to drown myself in mint m&ms.

YAY Caveman! Come to the U next year! 😀

(Is anyone else annoyed that the big smiley on SDN looks like it has buck teeth?)

I'm more annoyed at the fact that the winky face isn't nearly as lewd or lascivious as it should be. 😉 I mean, what is that? It's more a smug, smart ass face than anything.

LMAO at Burnsie and Caveman as usual!!!!!!!!!! :meanie: :meanie:

I'll have to stop by CVS some time this weekend. Oh and welcome back to the sunshine state, Unfrozen!!!!!!! 😛 😛

BTW, Runner.......

In regards to the smily faces, I'm more annoyed by the fact that they all look like they have their eyes in a wink fashion. Especially that smily face and the one I used just now. Oh and don't ever make the smily faces toooooo large or it looks down right scary!!!!!!!!!! A-man aka Arsenic810 did that and it looked totally freaky.

My favorite is the meanie one.

Ok, serious FL schools question. Who here knows about the grading policies at the FL schools? I know that they all give grades, but are the grades awarded on an absolute basis, or do they curve?

They've made some huge improvements, though; given a new quarterback and a season or two and they could do some serious damage.

Just quoting this to see if anyone knows the answer to this question for Q, cuz I don't want her question to get lost amongst our talk.

That said, not to switch topics but to the wonderful Burnsie...............

I went to CVS in Bradenton today. There were mint milkyways, mint kit kats, etc. etc., but not mint m&m's. Me thinks you came down to Btown overnight and stole them all away!!!!!!!!!

Guju--I can defintely relate!!! Did you happen to come across some of the other bizarre candies out there? My fave was the breast cancer M&Ms lol

For Q's question, I have no idea. I'm sure if we ask deuist he can tell us about miami.

Hey Q,

For the answer to the grading question, it might be a little more helpful to ask someone in the actual allo forum. However, I'll poise this question to A-man to see if he has an answer regarding how it works at Miami. I'll post in a pm to him. You might want to also PM Mr. Larkin and ask him if he knows how it works for USF.

I wish one of us could be of help to you, but it seems none of us really know much about this other then what school websites say. Hence, I think it might be helpful to see if someone in allo can answer. For UF, I think Medgator might be able to help. For UMiami, A-man or Deuist probably is the best bet.

For USF, I think there are a few in allo, but otherwise, REL is the best bet.

Good luck with getting your questions answered.

Now back to the topic of weird candy. I will have to go to all the CVS's until I find one that carries them, when I go back to Tampa tomorrow. :meanie: :meanie: :meanie:

Thanks, Guju. I did ask A-man, and he says that Miami does not curve. (Phew!) Still not sure about UF and USF. Why don't schools post this stuff on their websites? All of the FL schools have hard to navigate websites. I can't find the info I want on any of them! 😡

Good luck finding the mint M&Ms, guju! I'm going through withdrawal already, having finished Q's bag yesterday. Deuist mentioned in the second look weekend thread that Miami was thinking of having one...is there any way we can tell Arsenic to try to convince Dr. Hinkley that this is a fantastic idea and that even if we're not invited we're coming anyway?

I just got back from King Kong. It was really good...great special effects and action, although I think its most impressive point was that Naomi Watts managed to go throughout the whole movie with only one facial expression.

Just got my middle of the night mint m&m's fix. They were in heavy supply at the MB walgreens. Probably because carbs are outlawed on the island.

Hmm, good point. They really ought to make sugar-free ones. Those would be a big hit in the S. FL area.

no one ever got it, and it was soooooo easy! It was an unsaturated solution, right? UNSATURATED. What is so hard about that? But nooooo, everyone kept fixating on the BaSO4. And then the letters were fat. So it was UNSATURATED FAT. Sigh. I am not making puzzles for you people any more. I suggest that everyone go waste their time like me and play sudoku. BTW, Burnsie, I did move up to the medium level last night, and managed to solve a puzzle. I also tried an evil one just for kicks, and I got a few of them before I got frustrated and gave up. :meanie:

I played Sudoku a few times after Jtank got me hooked to it!!!!!!! Then I saw a whole table at B&N, when I was studying there, dedicated to your favorite game SUDOKU!!!!!! :meanie: :meanie:

Generally when I think of unsaturation, I think of those fatty acid chains with double bonds in a phospholipid bilayered membrane of cells.

Didn't think of saturation in terms of ionic solutions.

Actually, I take that back.......

There's one other thing that comes to mind when I here saturated or unsaturated.......

Enzyme KINETICS!!!!! Specifically, Michelis Menton graphs and Cooperativity graphs.

Well, but that's why it's a puzzle. You're supposed to think about it in an unusual context in order to solve it. If it were literal, that wouldn't be any fun, would it?

I don't know who drew my new avatar, but I have to say that it fits me. I'm going to keep it I think.

Q--love the new avatar!

Guju--Last night I was at a Christmas party and there were mint M&Ms EVERYWHERE (I seriously think these people bought out all the mint M&Ms in Tampa and that's why you can't find them!). Anyway, I thought of you and considered stealing some, but I thought it might make a bad impression on the neighbors haha

Ahh, I just woke up! I'm replying to my own post because it was the last one on the previous page and didn't know if anyone saw/knew the answer to the question.

Q, I agree that the avatar fits you. Whether or not that's a good thing, however, is up for debate. I would change my avatar, but unfortunately I think I typecasted it by making my screenname MrBurns. No more mint M&Ms either...looks like pop tarts are going to have to do. What a poor, poor substitute.

I'd kinda like to do the whole formal second look thing. Hopefully Arsenic can persuade Dr. Hinkley. If it was a formal second look, does anyone have any idea what the dates would be? or when we would know that we were having one? Either way, I'm looking forward to visiting again!

No grade curves in med school to my knowledge. When you have a classroom full of achievers, I dont think curves (grade-related) are necessary.

I had a quick question, I know Miami is holding interviews for August MCATers until January. Is USF doing the same thing? Thanks 🙂

Hey I know I'm not REL, but I may be able to answer this question to some degree.

I'm not sure whether you are asking when interview season ends, or when August MCATers will find out whether they interview, but I'll go ahead and answer both so that your question is answered.

USF interview season starts in September and goes til about March some time, so you still have hope up until March.

Now as to when August testers usually hear about when they get an interview..........

From what I have seen with others, it could be early as beginning of December or late late November if they are lucky, or it could be as late as the last date of interview season.

Those that get the earlier post August MCAT interviews (i.e. Early Dec to January), generally seem to be people with slightly higher numbers/better overall applications. On the other hand, those with slightly lower numbers generally seem to hear back in the later half of the interview season. Now there are most probably exceptions to this rule, but this is just my observation based on the several students I've known in the past, that have interviewed at USF.

In any case, note that USF has already interviewed a few August MCATers and accepted some of them too. I know this for a fact because a few people who I know, that took the August MCAT, have already been accepted to USF COM.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I found out this past week that there *are* some med schools that curve their grades. I have to say that I don't think I like that idea one bit.

I think the people who are in your class would probably like it even less than you do, Q.

Unlike you, I'm being serious. 🙄 I don't want to go to a school that curves their grades. Heck, I'd just as soon not go to a school that has grades at all, but if I must have grades, I'd like them to be absolute. I agree with REL that it isn't necessary to curve medical students' grades. Medical school will be stressful enough, and you're already talking about a group of over-achievers. Why incite people to compete against one another? I can imagine that it must get pretty ugly if you have a bunch of people fighting over a handful of As or Honors.

That sounds like a defense of communism to me, Q. And here I thought you were a liberal.

P.S. I like messing with your head. 🙂

umm...you're a very strange person, do you know that? But I like you anyway. You keeps things interesting for us normal people.

haha nikki...tell me what you think about this one (you have to watch it a few times to fully appreciate it). I gotta say it's probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen, mainly because it kind of reminded me of guys trying to score at bars and clubs and striking out. The important thing is that the cow is okay, and I like how he starts to get up like nothing just happened.

And to everyone considering UM, I PMed Arsenic and, being as awesome as he is, he's going to ask Dr. Hinkley about the second look weekend. So hopefully we'll have an answer sometime soon.
