Mine was the same way. Some of the questions I got asked were totally ridiculous, and I felt that the interviewer didn't get to know me very well. But he must have thought I was ok, because they still accepted me. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

LOL. I was just browsing the NC forum Burnsie. This thread rocks better then that one, cuz we have more interesting conversations in here. You need to spice up the NC world by luring them to the Red Tide fan club.
 
Does anyone have a thread for last years UF acceptances. I am curious to see what happened later on in the interview process around April.

They told us Mid-April
 
I know there's a thread from last year....it was for all FL schools but UF was big on it...it popped up recently and I guess whoever was writing on it and asking questions didn't realize it was from last year. I honestly don't remember the name of the thread, but you can search for it. If I come across it, I'll post it on here.
 
Thank you very much, I'm going to try to find..it would be helpful to see what happened around April with the acceptances off the hold list.
 
How does the hold list exactly work for UF and FSU??? If you are put on hold, and they finish the interviewing season do they accept students after the 'final evaluation' or is everyone that is put on hold later put on a ranked list, which in that case the earliest u could gain acceptance is following the may 15th deadline? thanks! 🙂
 
Im in that problem where I am going to FSU but would like to hear from UF before hand. If you were put on hold, then you will hear mid April when they send out a large number of acceptances. Otherwise they form a group of alternates which are not ranked. Acceptances slow down around May 15th and continue through the summer.
 
does this apply for both schools, since fsu starts at the end of may?
 
The May 15 deadline doesn't apply to FSU b/c they start early. The deadline for FSU is April 15.

So I have a question...lets say you are all ready to go to FSU. Then another Flroida medical school accepts you like May 25th. You can still change your mind right. The April 15th deadline is just for the narrowing down of your choice to one school?

I'd imagine so. Here's why...

Not taking FSU into account, but looking at schools that have the May 15th deadline.....

Every year people pick the school that they want at the May 15th deadline, but there are several people who picked one school but were waitlisted at another school on their list. So say that waitlist was their first choice, you'll find many people who ended up picking school A on May 15th ended up giving it up to go to school B past May 15th because they just got off the waitlist.

REL once explained this more eloquently. But essentially it is like a back and forth game where the ball keeps bouncing in different directions. You are still allowed to accept the waitlist position that is offered and allowed to drop at the other school past the May 15th deadline.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be too different for the earlier schools like FSU, especially considering some schools accept right up until the first week of class in some rare instances.

I'm in the same position as you, turquoisey (acceptance at FSU but still hoping for UF). It would be interesting to know how many others are.... at my FSU interview like 15 out of 18 of the interviewees were on hold at UF- kinda scary!

Burns...you can't have friends from diff schools in a facebook group. SORRY!!

Does anyone know if pediatric anesthesia is more difficult to get into than general anesthesia??...I saw only one person from UM matched into it, but didn't know if it was for lack of interest or level of difficulty. Thanks to anyone with info.

oh no! I'm the only member of Red Tide!

I always thought pediatric anesthesiology was a fellowship that you apply to in the last year of your regular anesthesiology residency. This might be a case where there are a few programs that automatically accept you from med school, but most applicants go through the regular residency first. But I'm not sure, that's just a guess. WholeLottaGame should chime in here since this is his cup of tea.

I hate tea.

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I thought...you do a rotation in ped anest. and then later do a fellowship if that's what you want to go into...but when I saw on the Match List "anesthesia-pediatric"...I was confused. I've looked up UM'JMH's ped anest. and it says you just do a rotation in peds along with other rotations. (UM-JMH is where that person matched at)...I don't know. I guess I'll figure it out sometime in the next 4 years! (or change what I decide to specialize in).

Did people who are accepted to UF get an email about the workings of the hold list today?
This worries me because I have yet to hear and I got a hold email.

Haha, I know- I'm so stressed out about all of this. I'm ready to get off this ride.
 
I know someone that was put on hold at UF and was accepted into FSU. They went ahead and paid the deposit for FSU and were accepted to UF days prior to starting at FSU. They are now at UF.

As long as you don't get to the point where you have to pay tuition, I think you are ok. If you had to pay tuition at FSU and then got accepted into UF, you'd basically be screwed a few grand!

The person mentioned above also had an apt in Tally from undergrad, so moving to Tally and then to G-ville wasn't a concern.
 
Well that is very good news. I have always wanted to go to UF. Maybe that will happen to me too.

I'm in the same position, haven't heard back from UF and got the email you're talking about. Does anyone know if this means we're on the waitlist?
