Is anyone out there applying to University of Florida? If so, what has been your experience. Is it correct that they do not conduct interviews?

I've already applied to Florida, and two weeks ago they requested an interview with me. They interview some people, other people they just let right in. They were concerned about my lack of pharmacy experience and wanted to talk to me in person.

I was interviewed by two different people last Tuesday, but have not heard anything back, yet.

Florida is the only state school to which I've applied. The only reason I want to go there is for the distance learning program. It would be nice to live at home. The school is big, cold and sterile. I was not comfortable during my interview. I'm used to private school, where all my profs know me as an individual and actually care about me, as a person.

I thought the health sciences center was beautiful. It's new, and looks really nice. If you consider it "sterile" you should probably also consider that it is a hospital. When we were there for orientation most of the students were really impressed with the building that house the college. Of course, the entire campus is huge and parking is terrible.

I did a year of undergrad at UF back in 1976, but ended up getting my degree at a private school. I am well aware of the fact that the Health Science Center is part of Shands. By sterile, I meant cold. It's like having a modern furniture instead of rich woods. It has to do with ambience. The campus as a whole is nice with lots of ivy covered brick buildings, but the health science center left me cold. Big, new and modern are not things I usually go for in life. That's why it's important that we pick a school or campus that meshes well with our lifestyle.
