What do you listen to in the OR? And are you using Pandora, sirius, etc.?

I am Pandora, anything from DMB to reggae to Stevie Ray Vaughn. Classical for the LOLs.

Just got a new portable USB chargable bluetooth speaker that syncs to my blackberry so I don't have to worry about gas stealing my old minispeakers

the sound of my own voice talking...

In the office, its usually some sort of classical CD. I used to listen to the radio/classic rock, etc, but then people would start singing, tapping their foot, moving a bit..... Very few people can carry a tune, and I don't like moving targets. Most patients find the music pleasing. XM 'the pulse" at a couple of surgery centers. Patients are more likely to request sedation at the ASC so my choice in music is immaterial and typically not remembered.

You should be listening to spotify over pandora. Greater selection and much more control over music.

Pretty much only death metal/thrash. Early testament, Gwar, Deicide, entombed. COC, Municipal Waste, Pre south of heaven Slayer...whatever gets me ready to mosh

Kazakhstan national anthem x 1000

Because never gets old.

Great success !

I play new age type zen music and my RT give them a massage when not moving the C-arm. Patients love it and find it very relaxing.

That how I do it in my office where I do 95% of my procedures.

I go to an ASC 1 day per month and there I play classic/alt rock, while my patients slumber.

We get 1 crappy radio station that plays pop music.

I'll check it out. Been a long time Pandora user. Does spotify have blackberry app?

I used to listen to Pandora but they limit your usage per month. Now I use Slacker and listen to soft rock. I bought an inexpensive wireless system from Walmart so the music is piped throughout the entire office. Slacker is on the front desk computer and hooked up to a sender.

bedrock, wow, your RT gives them a massage...
Just curious, is your RT a certified massage therapist? Do you pay your RT extra for that work?

I have a playlist of songs, majority is jazz (Miles, Monk, etc). Some J-pop (I figured my patients won't understand the lyrics anyway so it wouldn't be too distracting). And a few random other blues/pop/rock songs I like. I stay away from lyrics that are too distracting and also avoid love related themes. Mostly going for a more mellow/relaxing sound, but also mixing it up with some light up beat sounds as I need some variety for myself. I spend half the day in the fluoro room, so I want to listen to music that I like, but at the same time, not too offensive or distracting to my patients.

I have gotten some compliments, and only one complaint...some jazz was playing and the patient said, he has to question my abilities as a medicine man because of the music (half jokingly I hope)...turns out he prefers classical so we switched it to the classical radio station.

Ok, sorry if that was too much info...

Classical and jazz...It helps patients relax and I am not using IV sedation

I used to play classical but the staff complained that they were falling asleep

Not sure if spotify has a blackberry app but it's free on your computer. Type in an artist and get access to ALL of their songs immediately. Ask patient their favorite music and have it playing in a few clicks. Completely free. Subscription fee for the mobile apps to have that amount of freedom.

listening to House of Pain could be ironic, but I'm not sure how many would appreciate the humor

"Jump around, jump up and get down
Jump around, jump around
Jump up and get down
Jump up, jump up and get down"

might not be that great while doing something in the spine...

course, some ppl might get offended by:

"I'll serve your ass like John McEnroe"

while you're doing a caudal...
