Was little spoiled in fellowship, dude could get great picks, line up, would change to get caphalocaudal and oblique without direction to get best imaging without our input as fellows.

Where I am, I have an assistant to run fluoro but doesn't have any training.
Any info on where I can get basics of fluoroscopy to get them up to speed?

ask them to look at Fenton's or Furman's book. once they know what you're looking for they should get it quickly. I also had to learn to be more assertive and tell them what I want. they can't read your mind. so you need to be specific. "caudal tilt... 5 degrees" "oblique to me 10 degrees." "square off the superior endplate of L4"

echo above, I think the rathmell book gives a good idea of images and options; furman is simplier; I educate them on what I'm looking for, I think that goes along way when I am telling them how to position.

OK here is a secret. Where i practiced i had two OK fluoro techs and a bunch of the worst fluoro techs ever. Techs who did ultrasound mostly. Really bad. Worse than you can imagine really. Solution - i had to train myself to be a fluoro tech so i could get through some of these procedures, then train the techs. SIS has a fluoro tech training course. It was BY FAR the best fluoro course i ever took. If you can, send your tech to this course and you tag along also. I think this is the one i took (although it was ?20 years ago).
