i'm trying to book a flight from uvm to evms, and prices (one way, for the times i need) are almost $200! is this expected since they are smaller airports? are there any alternatives? (maybe larger airports within a bus ride away or something?) thanks in advance!

yup, already tried that...

You are complaining about $200 to fly from Vermont to VA? That sounds like a very reasonable price to me...especially for smaller airports.

Sounds pretty darn reasonable to me... I've been paying 2-300, and that's flying out of Detroit, Chicago or Indianapolis.. which are all large airports.

really? even for a one-way ticket? sorry... i guess i don't fly enough 🙂

also, generally, how early in advance are you guys buying your plane tickets?

$200 roundtrip = awesome. $200 each way, not so great...but generally prices are really high right now. Keep looking and investigate larger cities nearby. Some of the car rental places now rent to folks <25 though they will charge an extra amount per day. You could check just to see if one route would be cheaper than the other.

One way is more expensive than roundtrip! You must not fly very often. One ways will always cost you more. Call the airline to see if you can do a multi-leg flight that will start in one place and end in another. That will be cheaper than a one way flight usually.

Oh, no.. I was talking about round-trip. I don't ever buy one-way tickets, in general.

Look at the round trip cost. Many airlines (not including Southwest, Alaska Airlines) cost more to fly one way than round trip. Even so, $200 sounds about right for the current airline fares.

I would not complain about $200. Mine have all been $300+ even with a month and a half notice...
