I don't think there's much point in reading a textbook of family medicine. Most of what you'll need to know as an intern is how to handle situations that you're likely to encounter on call. I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with Internal Medicine On Call or a similar reference, if you're looking to get a jump on things.
