I'm completing my secondary, and one of my essays I'm using some stats and general info. Do I have to cite these sources?

I don't think you need to. I just pretended that these were commonly known stats.

I would re-think an essay where you need to cite references in the first place... I'm not saying it is wrong, but for one of my secondaries a while back I got into the same path/trap, and later just decided to throw it out because I was writing an application essay after all, and not a paper for school

I included a footnote in an essay that I submitted for a school (and got an interview there). If you don't overdo it, I think it just reflects a serious approach to writing.

i think if you are stating a well-known statistic (47 million uninsured) you could get away with not citing it....but you can easily cite your source within your text by wiring something like "According to _____" or "(Bob et al, JAMA 2008)" ....it can be short/incomplete as long as someone interested can retrace where you got it from.
