Sorry OP, he does sound like a total douche. Can you talk to your PD and make sure he or she knows about all this? If you are first to explain it all then less likelihood of fallout against you. Or at least if other PDs contact him then your PD can explain to them what really happened. Also is it possible to not put his contact details anywhere but instead put something like contact available upon request, so then at least some may contact you to ask you first? Sorry not sure if this is very helpful but hopefully others will be able to give you better advice.
