Hey Guys!

First of all: I'd like to thank everyone who I've talked to about this issue so far. I realize that I am a paranoid freak. I promise I have NOT disregarded your advice... but I'm still scared T_T My friends at home are pretty tired of hearing about this too. Here is my story:

I took the Jan 31 mCAT, when I got to the VOID/SCORE screen, I remember reading it VERY carefully and deliberately selecting SCORE. I also remember being very freaked out the fact that if you DO select void, your scores are gone FOREVER.

I realize some of the more normal people in this crowd will just be like "well you selected score, I think you're fine..." BUT... read on =)

So at the very end of the mCAT they give you this page that says "if you did void your exam, no further action is required" but after that it gives you your registration ID etc. it is at this point that I started FLIPPING out, thinking that I may have voided my exam on accident.

I was told by a lovely member here that voiding is NOT as easy as pressing a button, (please look in the 1/31 thread) and that it requires two conformation screens.

Knowing my insanity, I CALLED AAMC this morning to ask if they would possibly have on file whether or not I pressed void. They said they DO NOT KNOW and will have to wait until the scores come up in 30 days. They said basically, if I have no scores, I voided and too bad for me.

SO! I'm looking for people who have indeed purposefully voided before to tell me if there IS really two conformation screens. Unless I blanked out this part of the exam, I went straight from selecting SCORE (no pop up windows or ANYTHING) to a survey. It was really fast, I just wish I had spent another five minutes LOOKING that I had really selected score dammit. But I don't really have any doubts that I clicked score, because I'm not stupid, but what if I accidently clicked void T_T T_T Will they have asked me again? AHHH!!!!!

Please just tell me if there were two conformation screens, I feel like that would really help me. Because I only got one screen *unless I blacked it out* which I guess in my insane head is also a LARGE possibility.

Okay, I know I'm freaking, I'm going to stop.

PS: Once again. thanks everyone else who has helped =) I'm just seeing if other people remember this two screen thing because I wasn't really able to confirm it with others. (I don't have any friends that voided)

Everyone gets this same sheet telling you how to get your scores. Why would this sheet have triggered your panic?

From what you have said, you did NOT void your score. Voiding is a 2 step (2 screen) process...

I think it triggered my panic because I had assumed that if you DID void, there would be something different for them like

"you have voided your score, no further action is required"

and for us it would be

"thank you, your score will be posted in approximately 30 days"

it just makes me panic that you never KNOW whether or not you voided unless you just don't get your scores...

though I'm sure no one has ever "accidentally" voided before T_T

The person who hands you the sheet would have no way of knowing if you voided or not...one sheet for everybody.

I am sure that people have accidentally voided, too, but I doubt very many...

REALLY!!?!?????!!!??!!?!

Well that freaks me out!!!!!!

Well I got through PM that there is a pop up box that comes up that asks you if you really want to void. I was super careful on test day and read EVERYTHING. I remember that because its the reading EVERYTHING that caused me all this pain -.-;;;;;

I read every word on every page, and I do not in my right mind remember any pop ups in the last few minutes of the test. Unless I blacked it out (which in my insane mind is a possibility) I think I didn't void my test. I just don't REMEMBER a pop up that I had to read at all. I went from clicking score my test, to a processing screen, to a survey. Nothing else. I guess I'll just keep on thinking I blacked out a pop up screen to continue my insanity about voiding my test. but I feel that's the only way.

hahaha

yea. I think everyone has been telling me there is definitely a conformation screen.

I do NOT remember this.

I think it should be okay ~

hahaha

tanks so much everyone!!!

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I VOIDED my Jan31st exam (am sure I picked option #2 "Click to VOID scores") and received no confirmation screen after.

There is another thread where two other voiders did NOT receive it either. I will find it and post here.

If you are sure you picked number 1, then you definitely had your exam scored. I am in no way giving ANY medical advice, but this seems like a clear sign of obsessively doubting something you know you scored....

No, and I made 100% sure to void it. I even went back, unchecked it and checked it again to make sure. I do not think I have ever been more careful of anything. That said I am still afraid there was a glitch or something.

Yea I didn't have a second confirmation page either.

I read that other thread, and oddly, I was NOT able to go back and check.

A lot of people have been saying that they pressed the "back" button to "make sure they voided" I didn't get that. I couldn't have pressed back even if I wanted to, it skipped to the survey.

Also, someone else said they voided the Jan. 30 exam and they received a pop up box.

Thirdly, AAMC said they wouldn't be able to tell me if I voided or not and that they do not receive that information. I wonder if they change their policies?

Listen, I've heard a lot of people posting about calling the AAMC and getting a list of the exam VOIDs. Please do NOT cause yourself anymore stress over the issue, as you know you scored it (option#1) and you are just creating doubt over a situation. How can you have "looked carefully" at the screen and accidentally void it? It makes no sense...Don't you think you would have known if you were paying that much attention. You cant let "What if" run through your mind and create crazy scenarios just in order to worry. If you let "what if" run through your mind like this all the time, you really have to consider seeking help or ultimately whether you can handle becoming a physician. You can't worry about "what if's..." "What if I prescribed 50 instead of 20 mgs....what if I wrote down the wrong medication....what if I ...." It will ruin your life. Be confident and realize you are a capable human smart enough to rock the MCAT and simply read two statements and decide which one you want.

You can't worry about this crap.

If it helps, there is NOTHING you can do about it now, so stop worrying about it! When this happens to me, I always remember something I read to help stop anxiety:

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference...."

Hope this helped

I don't think I'm asking for a conformation screen of void. But someone said she got a second pop up question asking "are you SURE you want to void" did you not get this? its not a conformation screen, but rather a second question asking if you really wanted to do this.

I did not receive ANY screen after clicking "END" that confirmed or asked if I was sure I wanted to void.

I think what the other posters mean by "going back" is that they went back to page 1 of 2, I did as well.

I didn't have two pages o.o I just had one screen o.o and I just clicked next and it went straight to a survey... odd 😵

well then I guess it was different for the different exam dates. In any case, please do not cause yourself any more mental distress! if you picked number 1, YOU SCORED YOUR EXAM!

yea~ iono, I'm just super confused now because everyone's exam was different. I seriously didn't have a back button, what was the second page anyways 😵

I clicked yes, then next, and it went to like, this processing screen with a processing circle. I felt like, as I was walking out of the test, that void is such a big decision, there SHOULD be a second prompt, so I'm super confused now that some people don't get it and some people DO. isn't that weird.

I mean, I'm still stressing, but now with the information that other people HAVE called for a void list, I'm going to go back to AAMC tomorrow and demand one. I feel like it would put my heart at ease...

You guys, there is no back button. I don't know what people are talking about, honestly. I didn't void the Jan. 31st exam, but I did void an exam last year and there was definitely a confirmation page that asked if you were sure. Could AAMC have gotten rid of that? Yes, but why would they? I've never heard of a back button on the MCAT.

Hey Revilla, one of my friends took the exam (he goes to my school)

he told me that he was also freaked that he pressed the button wrong and he "pressed the back button to check" he said that to me too.

But I personally didn't have a back button 😵

But I DO think that its super normal for them to have a conformation page... because no page is super weird... I was thinking that when I walked out of the exam. I personally did NOT have a back button though.

In terms of someone more recent. Someone who voided the Jan 30th exam answered my PM and she said she had a grey pop up box *similar to the one that says your time has run out* to confirm the void.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE WORRIED:

I called AAMC, they said they DO have a void list and will know either by late this week (thursday/friday) or next week (monday) who is on the void list.

If you are in fact worried, call them =)

I asked this very nice woman whether she gets these calls a lot, and she said YES, all the time. So we are not the only paranoid ones =)

She was much more helpful than the first guy I got who said that he couldn't help me at all. I'm glad I found out about the void list from SDN, thanks guys ^^

What would be even more interesting is to ask how often people "accidentally" void and if there is any way to get that reversed...

I bet some people void on purpose, and then have misgivings about it, and call to claim it was an accident...

There is absolutely no way to get your scores if you voided. Its like you've never taken the test before, they just get a list of people who did void I believe but its like your test is gone forever.

I think people realize this, I'm sure people ask, but I don't think its possible.

called AAMC =)

They told me

"you exam was scored"

I don't know if that means its already been scored or if I just don't appear on their void lists

good luck everyone else!

Hope you get the score you want. Because otherwise, it would be really ironic.
