I am there with you. I planned to finish work by mid-June and return to CA to be with family & friends. But since I need the money, will be leaving New Orleans mid-July. But then I do get a week off the end of June 🙂 Hang in there.

i'm quitting in mid-july too...i've also been putting in overtime, so hopefully i'll be able to receive one more full paycheck after i start school.

Dude I am so stoked! I am done the last full week in June, The 27th is my final day AND I will get paid until the end of Juy bc thats when I "officially" started my Americorps gig. I actually began work the first week of Julu last year and didnt get paid for like 6 weeks! It's all worth it now though...

I'll be leaving in July too. I need the money and the health insurance. A few weeks is all I need anyway, otherwise I get bored and start thinking too much (God forbid that happen).

Im leaving on June 12th - I was gonna do june 13th but hey i might as well not have to go to work that friday!
Then I'm off to the east coast for a little visiting trip:
DC-->NYC-->Boston (one week each) to see all my college friends and live it up a little before I start school on Aug 11! Yay! Oh somewhere in there I have to find an apartment.

I was planning on stayin' with my nice little pharmaceutical co. job till the end of June, but....
I got into my Med school's pre-matriculation summer program where I get paid to get a headstart on 1st year classes. And to top it all off, I did the math and I'll actually be making more per hour in the summer program than I would for my fancy pharmaceutical company. 😀 So I'm outta here next week--> May 23!

Too bad the summer program doesn't end till mid July.🙁

I have no idea. It depends on where I go. If I go to UIC, my last day will likely be in mid-June. If I get into UofC, which starts somewhere near Oct 1st, I'll be working through most of July possibly into August.

And the best part is between now and then, I will only be working 2 more full days, 1 7hr day, 5 2-4 hr days, and I'm taking 2 whole days off. I am soooo glad I worked so many extra hours for interviews and vacations in the past AND that my company lets me squander away my sick days.

Then June 3rd I'm off to Europe for almost 7 weeks!!!!

Seaworthc where you going in Europe. I am trying to set up a trip for three weeks in Ireland/Scotland. Also, are you going on any tours? I havent set up jack for my trip and am looking for some ideas.

we are going all over, beginning in England. in the UK we are doing London, Brighton, and Edinburgh; Dublin & Waterford in Ireland. we bought a Go Western Europe book which has been really helpful. you could probably just get one for the UK and one for Ireland. get started on booking. in some places the cheapest beds are already full (we're booking now)

yea well maybe i'm gettingn too greedy. but i just hate waking up early in the morning to go to friggin work that is 2 hours away.... but i guess i should get used to having no sleep. fu*k whatever

I'll probably stop working around July 10th. Then I go on vacation in Wisconsin for a week (same place I'll go to for 4th of July weekend 😀 ), come back to Chambana, pack up my stuff since my lease ends July 31st, and move out to Iowa. I'll probably spend a week or so chillin' in Sterling before really moving to Iowa City. I guess a month off isn't a lot, but I'm only waiting tables. Not like it's a hugely stressful job. 😉

Wow, guys you're all so lucky to have some vacation between job and Med School. My last day is August 15 (Friday) and the orientation starts on August 18 (Monday). That leaves me with an entire weekend for a vacation. Am I a geek or what?

Hrm...I haven't decided yet and I haven't notified my work. I work as an EMT for a private ambulance company and things are so fluid I don't think I need to give >1 month notification. Here's the thing...I work 3 days a week 12 hour shifts like I have been doing the whole year so I feel as though I don't need as much of a vacation as others might. I don't think I am going to be doing any travelling (but I may pull something together still), and most of my family are going to be abroad, either from the middle of July or beginning of August (I start July 28). I now live with my family which is 35 minutes away from my school and I will hopefully be moving to an apartment July 1. So, I have no clue what I'm doing and I'm just confused...

I can't make up my mind when my last day should be. I need to take at least two weeks, but I only want to take more if I know I'm not going to be sitting around doing nothing.

The problem is, my employer has this bizarre payroll system. It's not the usual 2 week cycle. We get paid twice monthly, once for the 1st through the 15th, and then for the 15th through the end of the month--however many days that is. So the day that would make the most sense from a payroll standpoint is a Monday, which makes NO sense in the real world.

I guess I'll have to get out my calendar.

I'll be in Southern Cali for most of June with a short trip to Cleveland to look for an apartment, in San Francisco the last week of June, NY the first week of July, then Montana and Idaho for the second and third weeks of July, then Cleveland by the end of July for Aug 4 orientation.
