And I'm talking about easier type gaffs that you just shake you're head and go how did I miss that, not super difficult stuff.


Disclaimer: I say for fun because a) you're not going to get it wrong especially now that you specifically mentioned it in this thread and b) you probably have already done this and been super pissed at yourself on a practice block.


For me:

1) Remember the damn tumors that have psammoma bodies, I cannot believe I chose Medullary Carcinoma of the Thyroid over Papillary Carcinoma of the thyroid today when starring a biopsy picture right in the face.

2) If I ever mix up epidural and subdural hematoma in anyway, I get furious with myself I (Neuro is my fav subject and sometimes I get these wrong inexplicably).

In free 150, there's a question that asks for the type of hearing loss in presbyacusis. Guess what, I got it wrong. What makes it all the more frustrating and makes me want to slap myself is the fact that my med school makes us study Otorhinolaryngology as a compulsory part of curriculum, and I still got that question wrong. Yes hell, even after a FULL DAMN YEAR OF STUDY! 😡


Crap, I was super-pissed. I should not get any ENT questions wrong in step1.

Basic sensitivity/specificity and PPV/NPV calculations. Our school hammered them into us, and they're easy anyway.

I'm kicking myself for reading a table wrong in a hurry earlier today and getting an extremely easy one wrong (calculate the PPV given the numbers in a 2x2 table).

couldn't agree more.. anything covered as far back as high school such as transcription/translation enzyme stuff. or missing a start/stop codon or something. simply no excuse for missing something you've learned 10 times en route to medical school!

i think its because we all go in thinking uw is very tricky and difficult we fail to pick the clearly obvious answer lol

I keep missing questions on the MEN syndromes. It should not be that hard to keep them straight, but every time one pops up I mix them up. Then the right answer comes up and I scream and the ferret gets annoyed because I woke him up. 🙂

Any type of side effects questions, especially the ones dealing with acetylchine and its esterase. I always confuse the symptoms of when there is too much in the cleft or not enough. Also anything HIV related and virus classification👎.
