Hi everyone,

I had a quick question for those who have taken the DAT. Everyone seems to say there are only a few "calculation" gchem questions on the real DAT. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how difficult those calculations are. Some of them on the Achiever Tests aren't bad, but some are taking some extra thinking time..and then I get more nervous because I feel as though I'm losing time. Should I worry this much? Thanks in advance!

Not difficult at all. Most of the time you don't even have to calculate the numbers, as the answer choices are simply arrangements of numbers in an equation format.

Focus on understanding the concepts.

Hi Shunwei,

Thanks for your input! However, I really don't think I'm as smart as you looking at your recent DAT scores 🙂 ..Congrats! I hope I don't think the Gchem is diffucult as well.

I wouldn't really draw too much of a conclusion on my "intelligence" by simply looking at my scores. I think I may have gotten a little lucky yesterday since the questions were up my alley, and they could have easily gone the other way. But back to the main issue: the questions really are not that quantitative in the sciences at all, or at least much less than Achiever or Destroyer. Understsand the Whys and Hows and you will do very nicely.
