so if ur walking from the hotel to the interview in the snow, where can you leave your boots at the school and ur snow coat? Also, do they take you around the outside of the school in ur interview attire without a coat even if its freezing?
Sorry if this is a stupid question lol, ive only had interviews in 70+ weather, and have some coming up in states that are snowed in!

A lot of schools will let you leave coats, boots, purses, etc. in their admissions office while you go on your tour. If the tour takes you outside (depending on the weather) you may want to keep them.

I have a snowy interview coming up too, and now you've got me worried! Are you buying a big pair of boots to wear over your normal shoes and then planning on taking them off? I was just going to wear classy leather boots as my interview shoes and leave them on all day, but I guess that's not adequate if the snow is more than about four inches deep on walkways.

Anyway, here's my thought: Most of my interview days started out in a room with a bunch of chairs and some people who talked about the school. Then, when we all left the room for a tour of part of the school, the tour guides usually offered for us to leave some stuff in the room like coats, purses, writing pads, etc. I'm sure you could leave your things there, and you could ask whether the tour will include any outside parts before you decide to leave your coat.

I'd also check the interview feedback for the school. If they DON'T have a place for people to leave their coats, I'm sure several interviewees have complained about it in the "wish I'd known" section.

Schools in places that usually require outside clothing will have a coat closet available to you. You place your coat & boots there.

In my experience, sidewalks in and around med schools and hospitals are usually cleared very well and won't be a problem with regard to deep snow. Some even have bridges and tunnels from building to building so that going outside is not necessary.

In general, if the temperature is above 25, you can safely go 100 feet without a coat and live to tell about it. That means walking a short distance (across the street & down the block a little bit) is completely ok in a suit jacket. (We do it all the time in lab coats.)
