In regards of low GPA we often hear grade trends. But there doesn't seem to be "a lot" of correlation between the two. (There is some yes I know) For the sake of my sanity, I'm not going to crunch the actual numbers. But in the case of someone with a low GPA. 2.6 at 50 credits for example. Higher GPA's become unattainable without major DIY post-bacc's, etc. So say a student 4.0's the rest of the credits, or something in the 3.7+ range for the remaining credits, giving them somewhere around a 3.4-3.5 range. Is that amount of reinvention rewardable regardless of the ending GPA? How much weight are we giving grade trends and over what amount of credits does it become a factor?

No need to overthink this. For reinventors, it's NOT about the cGPA.

I've seen plenty of SDNers post something like this:

2.0 -> 3.1 -> 3.4 -> 3.9 [maybe have a pb of 3.9 as well]

Or

3.5 -> 2.1 -> 3.9 -> 3.9

For someone who has tanked their GPA after 2+ years of college, then it's up to then to get another 2-3 years of as high a GPA as possible, with 3.7 being the minimum. This, along with a great MCAT score, will convince a decent number of Adcoms that the you of now is not the you of then.

Can personally attest to this. My grade trend is similar to the second one Goro listed.
