I took my DAT on Monday and now am working on my supplementary application.
I am just curious to see what other people do now (besides doing supplementary).

I am gonna go to the gym more often to get my swol back on. Other than that,,, I'm not sure what else I will do. maybe look for a job and read books??

WHAT DO YOU DO NOW???

taking a summer course....😡😡😡😡😡😡

ohhh come onnnn!! there are gotta be more than summer school and praying (u wouldn't pray for hours and hours nonstop)

I was going to post a similar thread. The wait is going to be tough if you don't have anything to keep you busy. I am finishing up a summer class now, and once that's over I'm going to take August off to relax and recharge. After that I'm going to find a job to pay for application fees/hopefully interviews while enjoying hobbies I couldn't do while I was in school..like playing guitar, playing basketball, playing video games, and a bunch of random stuff.

I think the biggest thing is to find a job or some kind of work to keep productive and your mind sharp. Hopefully I can get a TA position and maybe another easier job to pay for stuff.

But yeah, what is everyone doing now or will be doing in a few months? Traveling? Working? Being a bum?

Also I've been checking SDN every few hours every single day..

Classes, work, and Starcraft II 😀 Oh, and eating 😀
And more importantly, preparing for interviews 🙂

Getting caught up in the HARRY POTTER CRAZINESS!

Enjoy the calm before the storm 🙂

And on the side:
- prepare for interviews -- know thyself and know about the school to which you're applying.
- research the schools you'd really want to attend. That way you stand out to the admissions committee's as someone who's actually done their homework.
- also I've found that some people on FB are even cool enough to answer a few questions about their school for ya. (students don't tend to have any reason to sugarcoat the details you ask about)
- oh, and pray 🙄

good luck!

I'm busy taking two business classes that are easy, yet take up insane amounts of my time; I am currently in the process of writing a 35 page business plan. Additionally, I am concentrating on eating less/healthier and working out more to loss the DAT 15 or 20 lol. I am also working part-time two days a week at a grocery store and trying to spend at least one day a week job shadowing.

When I do have some free time I hang out with my friends or "make up" all the time I missed with the girlfriend while studying for the DAT.

It may sound like I am super busy, which I am, but i find that it makes time go by a lot faster which is better than me freaking out everyday about where/if I'll get into dental school.

THANKS! I PM'd you the email I used for SC2 🙂 I played online A LOT during the first season... but since they added rankings above diamond during the second season, I've been practicing with comp because people are soooo goood! I haven't memorized all the hot keys yet 😛

and back to the subject of the thread. Do mock interviews until your eyes bleed. Also, look around on sdn for the questions that schools like to ask (the schools you applied to) and come up with answers for all of them. Practice responding to these questions ALL THE TIME. When you're doing dishes, when you're jogging, always be thinking about them.

that's about all you can do, but it will make the difference. Someone who gets 13 interviews but hasn't prepared at all might not get in whereas someone who got 3 prepared like hell and gets their pick.

I played a ton in beta and the first 3 months of live. Got up to platinum rank 1 but then my laptop exploded (it was below the min requirements lol)

Then it was about 6 months before I got another comp. I haven't done 1's since. I lost my spark 🙁
Now I just screw around in 4v4. It seems like if you have even a clue of what you're doing you can make diamond.

Thanks for the great advice! 🙂 I was planning to come up with honest answers and practice with them a lot, but I was afraid it might come off as rehearsed during the real interview.. but I guess I'll try it and see 🙂

lol, your story sounds like mine. I bought a Mac Pro just to play SC2 (lagged on my old laptop). I never finished the campaign. Went straight to live. Then, I played so much, I was in diamond for 4v4. But then I dropped down to all gold... and then I stopped playing for a while because of school and lost my touch also 🙁 heheh. Now there's season 2. We should mess around on SC2 sometime! 🙂

If you feel like you're going to answer it to quickly you can feign thinking (looking up with your eyes for a moment and pausing). That's what I did and I went 4 for 4 last year (declined some interviews once I was accepted to my first choice).

Definitely. I could use a practice partner. I'm not sure if you still need character code along with email but my code is 706. I added your email, not sure if it went through without the code though.

Find something that you can use to your advantage for your future in dentistry, unfortunately not everyone gets into school the first time. As long as you're looking for a job get something related to dentistry, or going on vacation- do a dental service trip, volunteer somewhere or get extra shadowing hours.

What about touring some dental schools? Sometimes a walk-through gives you enough of a taste to determine if there is any synergy there.
