For those that are rejected post secondary...m

Does it happen relatively quickly after submitting your secondary?

I haven't applied but a friend of mine who did eventually matriculate into a MD said one of the MD schools rejected her within 30 minutes of submitting her secondary. Not sure if this story was exaggerated or true.

Ugh...I can answer this one myself now.. Just got rejected from Rocky Vista a minute ago....and I thought I was a solid candidate...

Took about 2.5 weeks.

Sorry to hear, hopefully the other secondaries bring back more hopeful news.

Same here. Took about a month for me tho. They don't seem to interview very many applicants by looking at their acceptance rate of those who are interviewed.

In my experience, more often than not it took a long time. Rocky Vista let me know after a couple of weeks, while CCOM said absolutely nothing for about 5 months before sending me a rejection letter.

Also thought I had a good chance for RVU. They are picky in some rather strange ways.

From friends I have who applied DO have said RVU is like that too. CCOM, I've heard similar. My friend applied 2 years ago and got a rejection letter 5-6 months later too.

I kid you not, 1 DO and 1 MD school rejected me in <48 hrs of me submitting the secondary and paying the fee. That said 3-4 others rejected me 2 wks in to MS1 (7 mos later), so... yeah it varies.

Yeah, don't worry about it, it won't be the last, and when you get in and start med school next fall, you'll be thinking about how funny it was that you got upset about a pre-interview rejection (speaking from experience).

I got some within a few days, others with several weeks.

Do schools generally email you the rejection letter? Or do you have to check your status on their website?

Depends on the school. Some mail, some email, and others update status. That said, all should either mail or email you when its time for acceptance, rejection, and waitlist, even if they also contact you another way as well.

Took me almost a month with LECOM-B, and a little over a week for KCOM. Both by mail.
