Don't forget you have to re-submit your amcas application after you've added your letters of recommendation. I made this mistake and it delayed my letters about two weeks. Don't be a victim.

We're putting coversheets on our TPS Reports now, too. Did you get that memo?

Seriously though, good on you for the heads up.

what does TPS stand for? I'm not that familiar with office space anymore so I forgot

Wait what?

I didn't resubmit my application and I am complete at all the places using the AMCAS service. And what poi you mean by "re-submit" ? How would you resubmit the AMCAS? I am so confused 😕

Hmmm yeah I made this mistake 3 times before finally figuring it out. The lady on the phone had a very "well DUH!" attitude about it. They should maybe re-label the "submit" button as a "save" button. I initially thought that re-submitting would re-send my primary application to all the schools!

I was baffled by this at first too. I loaded my letter and would click done, then I would try to log off and it wouldn't save my loaded letters. So finally I figured I would just click the submit button again and see what happens. I'm glad to see this thread cuz now I know I did the right thing. Thank you Jesus! So how long until the schools get the letter after you re-submit?

wow... Thanks for this. This got me as well.

Am I the only one who saw the message on the login screen reminding everyone to resubmit? Its in red and has been there for weeks.

Well I guess you have really good vision.

It'd be smarter for them to put that on the LOR page. I pretty much go into autopilot when I sign on to AMCAS nowadays.

ok, i am super confused now😕😕😕. I was complete a while back, and my letter was sent on the 7/31. Do i need to re-submit again, would it hurt my application if i dont do it?

You only have to re-submit AMCAS if you add letters to your account AFTER you submitted the first time.
ah now it all makes sense. i didnt have to resubmit because i added the letters before submitting the first itme

Exactly. Now you've got the hang of it!

They really don't make this simple, do they?

It's part of the weeding-out process. AMCAS seeks to speed up medical school natural selection. :scared:

Can i re-submit before finishing all the secondaries or does it have to be after i am done completing the secondaries from schools that are taking part in the AMCAS LOR thing.
Also, what does it mean once you "re-submit" the application?

BTW, I am using VirtualEvals for my LOR...if that makes a difference.

Yes you can re-submit before completing all the secondaries.

When you re-submit, AMCAS does not re-verify the entire application. The just alert the schools to the information that has been changed.

Hoping someone can offer advice here, since i called the AMCAS phone # at 6:56 PM ET and couldn't get through to an actual person:

I submitted my AMCAS 6/26 and was verified 7/16. On 8/14 I added one more LOR (I am applying MD/PhD to five AMCAS LOR pilot schools). I clicked to save it, printed the letter request form, and gave it to my last LOR writer. I did not resubmit my app. I saved the letter request form and have the pertinent AMCAS letter ID #. To my knowledge, the LOR writer in question still has not sent out his letter.

Thanks to this post, I found out about the resubmission deal. I logged into AMCAS, found out that my 8/14 entry had not been saved, and now I don't know what to do:
1) Get in touch w/ someone at AMCAS ASAP and see if they can retain the AMCAS letter # on the form I printed and gave to the writer?
2) Make a new AMCAS LOR entry, resubmit my app, print out that form with a new letter ID, and rush it to my recommender tomorrow, if he still has not mailed them out?

Anyone have any ideas? Obviously I will be in touch with AMCAS tomorrow to figure out if the first option is even possible or what will happen if AMCAS receives the original LOR form that's not on my submitted app.
