i have a draft of my ps done and was wondering how much focus was put on each part of the prompt by other ppl.. i focused mainly on why i chose pharmacy as a career, a bit on my short-term goals, and hardly talked about long-term goals... is this bad? should each part of the prompt be addressed equally? i thought the decision to go into pharm. was most important.. so?

thx in advance for any help 🙄

Jenn, at the bare minimum, you should have 1 paragraph DIRECTLY/EXPLICITLY explaining why pharmacy. Then, when you explain your short-term goals (anywhere from 1 paragraph to 3 or 4, depending on what the goals are!), DON'T FORGET THAT you are also indirectly explaining why pharmacy and simultaneously allowing your character/personality to shine. Believe it or not, AdComs do want to see your character and personality. Same instructions as short-term goals for your long-term goals.

I've read essays where ppl spend a good 4/5 of their essay explaining why pharmacy DIRECTLY (like sentence after sentence)--boring and can be repetitive. The other 1/5 was quickly throwing a fat paragraph together on the other half of the prompt--short term and long term goals. BAD idea.

With my ps, I kind of made each body paragraph a reason of why I chose Pharmacy and within each paragraph, I included how the Pharmacy degree will help me achieve the goals that I have for myself (relating it back to why I chose Pharmacy). I think that incuding why you chose pharmacy is important, but you also want to show how you can contribute to the profession. That's what I usually find about certain job interviews that I go on, is not what they can do for you, but how you can contribute to the school or profession or company.

What do you mean by how you can contribute to the school or profession? I would be stuck in the interview if I were asked that question. I just want to get into pharmacy school and get a good education the school provides so that I can excel as a pharmacist. When I become a pharmacist, I would make annual donations to the school yearly in return for the excelent education I will have received. What else can one contribute? I would like to know.
