Hi,

According to this website, there was a thread 2 years ago regarding to 4th year at COMP. Some students said that COMP doesn't organize the 4th year. Basically, the students will be on their own in that year to set up the rotations. Is it still true ? Do they make any change about this yet ? I would like to hear some comments from the 3rd & 4th year students there. Thank you very much.

They're out on rotations ... try going to COMP's old class threads on SDN and PM the people on there.

I am a 4th year at Western. The way it works is that we have a list online of all the available preceptors/hospitals nationwide. We can essentially pick and choose from this list and submit our preferences to our rotation coordinators. As a 4th year you have a pretty good feel of rotations to choose and one's to stay away from.
I guess the answer to your Q is that no, we do not have a set fourth year schedule. Our school gives us a core set of rotations that we must schedule and 4 months of electives. It is up to us entirely to select the the 10 months or so durinf our 4th year.
I think this is a benefit. Let's say you want to enjoy holidays/interview for potential residency spots/chill....You can schedule a ridiculously easy rotation that will allow you to do what you please.
This process may very well change quite soon. I believe curreny 3rd year students may have it a little rougher than us with mandatory rotations/scheduling/grading.

Take it easy.
