    I don't really understand why the force acting on a charge moving through a magnetic field does no work, yet is able to exert a force. Since it changes the direction of the particle, it changes its acceleration and therefore exerts a force, so how is it not doing work? (W=Fd)

      W= Fd costheta

      The force is acting in a direction perpendicular to the direction of discplacement (you can think of the direction in which the particle is moving) From newtonian mechanics, work is done when the force acts along the direction of displacement or opp or at any angle other than 90, since cos 90= 0

        Ok, got it! Thanks.
