I am becoming increasingly confused by how the AMCAS is supposed to calculate GPA with regards to study abroad. I've checked other threads, but it isn't helping.

If I took classes at a study abroad program that is not affiliated with a US program, those grades aren't supposed to count as far as I understand.

However, the grades I got in these foreign classes are listed on my US undergrad transcript in a special section. This is because my undergrad received the grades, but does not use them to calculate GPA.

I received non-department credit for these courses, meaning I just got 6 "credits" but they don't qualify for any department, and as far as the grades are weighted for GPA purposes, they count as 0 credits.

Does this mean the foreign coursework should be calculated in my GPA or not?

you need to put the classes/credits/grades down as they appear on your transcript. So, if your transcript shows grades you need to include them.
Will AMCAS include them in your GPA? It doesn't really matter since you're stuck with them. I believe they will include them (they included my foreign credits last year).

they counted my study abroad grades in the gpa which was not good for me, they were my worst grades of my college career. If it shows up on your transcript AMCAS will include them.
