Im not try to be pessimistic, with a pool that is over 12,000 applicants, theres going to be a lot of us that either need to wait another year to apply or find something else to do to kill time. Have anyone thought about going oversea to obtain dental education? Since there are tons of Indian coming to the U.S. to seek IT jobs, how about going to India to fill some of their dental schools spots? Im wondering if theres any non-U.S. d-schools would accept U.S. applicants?
A couple years ago I was working at a clinic in CA, Ive met a few Pilipino dentists working as d-assistants while studying for the U.S. board exam. They told me it wasnt hard to get in their private d-schools as long as you could pay the tuition (a lot cheaper than the U.S. schools) and their classes were taught in English. I understand the U.S. dental technology is a lot better than many other places around the world but you perhaps be able to start dental school earlier and save some money by going oversea.
So I wonder how many of you have thought or are thinking about this route? If you are serious about becoming a dentist and dont mind to go to a foreign country for few years, please PM me I might have a few more thoughts to share. 😉
