Hey guys,

I have a quick question. I am a medical student located in Monterrey, Mexico, and I am currently attending UANL's medical school here. If all goes as planned, I should graduate as an MD come 2015 (I just started in 2009). By the way, my school is on the list of approved international medical schools. Basically, my goal is to become a specialist in something (not sure in what yet) and gain the right to practice medicine in the United States, more precisely, Texas. How can I make this happen? I know I have to take a bundle of tests and such, but I don't know what the time line looks like. For example, I know that American medical students take the different USMLE phases at different points throughout their medical school career. Is this true for me as well, given I am in Mexico, or must I take them all together upon graduating? My ultimate goal, as I said before, is to practice medicine in Texas. If someone could guide me with a quick summary of prerequisites that would be great. Thanks in advance, guys.

You should get into contact with ECFMG and they will be able to answer all your questions. I could give you a choppy answer right here right now, but you'd get more out of a simple phone call.
