First of all, I would like to say that I am a US citizen. I was born in the US, and moved back to Asia soon after. There, I grew up learning my mother tongue, and not an ounce of English until secondary school (equivalent of high school). I am now studying in the United States in the same state as my relatives. Although my English has improved quite a bit, I still have a hard time communicating verbally with others. I am currently a Junior, I have good ECs, GPA, and started studying for my MCAT (we'll see how that goes), and ready to apply for the next cycle.

Obviously the remedy for this is to talk more. While I have 6months - year until my interviews, you can still only learn so much.

Will my English proficiency level in pose an issue for admission?

Your written English seems fine. Do you not speak as well as you write? Is the problem a language problem or shyness?

If your verbal communication is as poor as you describe, it could be a problem. How would you expect to have effective dealings with patients if you have trouble communicating?

Good news is that you have enough time to fix it. If you're diligent about it.

Writing has always been easier for me. It's just the matter of speaking words clearly, concisely, and fluently without "uh-ing"

I have been speaking English for 3 years now, but it's still hard for me.
