I just recently remembered a minor incident involving alcohol in the dorms when I was a freshman in college. I was in a room with people drinking beer, and everyone was written up. We all had to pay $100 and take a short alcohol education course.

This was 5 years ago, and it just slipped my mind I guess. I have already submitted my primary and most of my secondary applications. How much will this omission hurt me if I email each school and explain the situation?

It would have been better if this was already on your application (especially secondaries), but the incident itself shouldn't sink your application if you properly notify schools assuming that's your only blemish.

Well, I contacted my school's office of Judicial Affairs, and they said that this type of incident is not considered an institutional action, and does not need to be reported. Phew! I'm glad I went to such a liberal undergrad!
