I am so nervous.

Hello, in college I took a course through a local community college. The course was taught at my college.

I forgot to list this course. I also forgot to list the community college. It was a foreign language course, a core requirement.

But the course is listed on my official college transcript. I cannot believe I forgot. It was really an honest mistake. Now TMDSAS emailed me and said it was a "very serious" matter. I am really so nervous. I sent the transcript from the community college. I cannot beleive, I forot, and this course is such a minor course, oh my I think they might just think I tried to fraud, what shoudl I do?

when I did my application, I had just entered a new program, and had moved to a new place and was doing research, I can't beleive, it just slipped my mind.

Could someone please help and offer advice?

It says, "This is a very serious matter and could become an application irregularity with follow-up actions indicated in the Certification Statement you signed."

I am so sorry this happened to you. Hopefully it is not as serious as they make it seem. Kind of sad that they are trying to scare you. Hopefully someone can provide more insight.

I don't know what anyone here can say that will help you. Just calm down and do what they say. Are you supposed to call? I would suggest you own it and not come up with a dozen excuses. If it was an honest mistake tell them that. Just remember your application is your responsibility. And it should be the best it can be. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Oh okay thank you. I wrote an email saying it was a mistake and apologizing several times throughout.

Does anyone have experience with this @Goro or any of the administrators know? This is a foreign language course at a community college, I would never risk my application over something like that I mean, why would anyone intentionally lie about that, it was on my offical transcript, such a dumb thing to lie about? I hope they don't think I tried to lie, this is like the dumbest thing to lie about.

Thank you so much, will let u know, I hope the lady will see this, because I have spent so many years doing research, I am doing a master's program, etc and to risk all that for something so small, I mean I hope they will see that this is a honest mistake. Like, the course was physically at my college, I signed up for it in my usual way, it was 5 years ago.

When you were entering the courses didn't you use a transcript for info/help? If the class was on your transcript I don't know how this happened. Or did you list the course and then not send an official transcript from the CC?

I did not list the course, and did not even list that I took the course at a community college.
I don't know, I really don't know how this happened. I think I was using an unofficial transcript with only the university course. Because when I checked the offical transcript, it was lsited.

It looks like I am trying to lie. I know that a lot of people will think that. that is why i am so worried. But I mean, why would I lie? It is a core requriment so its not like I would get away from it, and I mean, this is so obvious to catch,. Like, why would I destroy my whole carrear just to hide a single grade in a foreign language from a community college?

I mean, that is the only argment I have. Otherwise they will think I am lying and they will withdraw my application from consideration

Just try to remain calm when you talk to them. Don't get hysterical or defensive. Tell them what happened-no excuses . They are going to do what they are going to do. You can only explain the mistake the best way you can . Good luck.

Ok thanks so much. I won't get defensive, but maybe a bit hystericl. I sent them an email profusely appologizing several times, and saying here. I can't beleive it, I really can't beleive that all that can be destroyed because i forgot to include a class from over 5 years ago.

i mean it is my fault. i mean, i have no one else to blame. I don't know.

OP, breathe. You've already sent the email. On Monday, you call, apologize again, grovel about how dumb and forgetful you were, and get it fixed.
You're not the first and you won't be the last one to do this. They come out swinging and playing hardball, because there are some jack@sses out there who do try to lie about classes taken, and those folks are going to get defensive, not apologetic. By immediately addressing it, sending the transcript and apologizing, you're already demonstrating that it was an accident, not an intentional cover up.
Yes, it is a serious issue and you should have been more careful. Yes, they will probably be stern and cranky with you. But it will probably not be an issue in the long run. So breathe. And then just take care of it.

What was the grade in the course?

It was a C, so that will arouse suspicion as well. Thanks everyone for the advice, I hope it will turn out ok. I mean, it was a low grade, but it was French I, and I got a B in II. Like, it would not make any sense for me to risk my entire application for a course like that. I'll send another email tomorrow, apologizing some more. Thanks everyone once again, I can't beleive it.

The C doesn't help, but it being the first in a sequenced course set does. I think you'll be fine. If you look at it from their perspective they have to come off harsh as a rule, because if they were overly understanding immediately then people who have transcripts from schools they never wanted to report would just not send it and then say it was a mistake if/when caught.

I didn't apply in Texas, but most secondaries have an opportunity to explain anything irregular and I would use that opportunity to talk about your integrity and how you wouldn't let anything compromise that. But that you understand how this shows a lack of attention to detail and that you know how valuable that is in a medical student and, more importantly, a physician. And then that this is a mistake you've learned from and you won't let a careless mistake happen again, especially when it could result in someone questioning your integrity.

OP how far along are you in the application process? I know nothing about the Texas system.

I mean, its done. I had interviews and we get the results (match) February 1, 2017. So its done. I think I might have gotten an offer, and then they go through your application to verify everything, and thats where they found this. I can't beleive it, i mean, i thnk i got an offer, b/c why else would they check it? And now it all thrown away.

A C isn't so low that it looks terrible. I know it sucks to feel like everything could be lost over this tiny mistake, but I am sure it does happen more often than you'd think. Just do what they ask, apologize as you've done, and try to stay patient. The worst is that it feels like you have zero control. Feel free to pm me if you need someone to talk to. We have no clue how it will end up, but if I had to guess I'd say that you'll be fine.

Thanks a lot for that, I have friends, but thank you for offering

Oh okay. But don't think that it's all thrown away. You don't know that. You need a clear head when you contact them tomorrow so you can make and present your best case.

Thank you so much for that. I hope you are right. I sent them an email, I'm not going to call them because they did not tell me to contact them or anything. They just asked me to send the transcript, that's all. But not contact or anything.

I wrote an apology and was careful to not sound defensive or anything. I apologized etc. So I hope it works. I'll let u all know, thank you so much to everyone, all have been so helpful

Thank you once again to everyone. to let you all know, it seems to have ended up fine. They just said, "we received your transcript, thank you". I repleid to that with another apology. They did not reply to that after 3 days, so everything seems to have cleared up, fortunately. Thank you again
