Okay so I've been reading posts by all these wonderful people who were nice enough to share their scores and study methods with this online community. (Thank you thank you thank you) Now I'm completely freaked out by this trend that I've been seeing. It seems as if the section that is the hardest is quantitative reasoning?!?!? 😱 I was never very strong at math, and now i'm thinking i should start spending a lot more time studying QR. Now my question is, how does one study QR? Is there a good book like schaums? I've been going through an old SAT I book but for some reason i feel like those questions are similar but ultimately not quite on the same level as those on the DAT. Any suggestions?

Same problem here...any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated...Thanks

practice practice practice, believe me , when i first started studying i started with qr because i thought it was the hardest, i was spending 30min per problem sometimes even longer, i NEVER thought i would improve, but after a while it became apparant that all these pple were actually speaking the truth, YOU WILL IMPROVE if you keep practicing, no matter how frustrating it gets just keep doing it, it might take a long time, but YOU WILL IMPROVE
excuse my spelling--good luck

Amen to the OP, it seems so so common. Kinda scary though.....

Ya I have to definately agree with you guys! I have nightmares about math! Not really, but I am really scared of it!

I am anxious to see what everyone else has to say about study guides......anyone?😕

It's definitely going to be easier for those good at math, but it's very doable to study for the section and get a good grade. There less than 10 basic types of problems that show up. Be able to identify what a question is asking quickly... that will save you time. This section is especially tricky due to the time restraints. Know how to set-up the equations and you will do well. Methodology is important but practice is far more important in this section. My $.02.

Thanks guys. Basically practice practice practice...no short cuts...like every other part of this exam. LOL It's nice to hear it though. Thanks again!

Yeah, best advice I can give is to practice!!! I did practice problems, but not nearly enough. Here's what I did: go through at least one or two GRE or SAT math books and understand how to do every problem type from every QR topic covered on the DAT. Then do all of the Kaplan QR subject tests if you have them, understand how to do all of the questions, and maybe even go through them again. Then go through TopScore and Achiever's QR sections tons of times until you can do all of the problems cold, and quickly! Once you are accurate at solving all problem types, work on your speed.

Knowing this trig sheet cold is helpful: http://www.teicontrols.com/notes/Trigonometry/Identities.pdf

Doing the practice problems on here is helpful, too:

Good luck!
