I just got a huge test back in my SMP, and it brought my grade down to a solid B, there aren't a whole lot of points left in the class. I don't know what to do, I feel like a B is proving that I earned my 3.3 ugrad GPA. I have a nice MCAT score, but I don't know if it's gonna get me thru this.

What SMP are you in? It's only the end of October, shouldn't the course run until spring before you get a final transcript with your grade? Besides that, is this the only course that you got a B in?

Don't freak out man. SMP's are tough. Are you applying this year or next year? If you're applying next year, you can still make strides in improving your grades in the next course.

yeah, the course runs until spring, but I'm applying this year, so my grades from the end of the semester (Dec) are what schools are gonna see. I don't want to give up my anonymity by saying what SMP Im doing (it's a small program) but there are 5 classes, two are 1 unit, 1 is 2 units, one 4 units and one 5 units. The B is in the big 5 unit class. It's kinda the only one that matters cause it's the one we take with the med students. sooo scared :scared:

Well it's not the end of the world. If you already have interviews, I would do everything I can to prepare for them and bag an acceptance before the second quarter (is your school using a quarter or a semester grading system?). I'm going to assume that your school is running on a quarter system because you said transcripts are coming out and it's only October. I would do everything I can to improve in the next 3 quarters. It's still possible to average out a decent 3.7 if you pull nothing but As in the next 3 quarters (not an easy feat, but still possible).

Also, prioritize what class to focus on. It sounds like the 4 unit and 5 unit class are the ones that counts the most. If you get an A in those classes, it's like getting 9 As in the 1 unit classes. You should probably spend more time on that one simply because it's worth so much more in terms of points. Obviously, don't fail the other classes, but if you have to sacrifice some time to get an A in the 4-5 unit class, you can probably get by with mostly Bs in the 1 and 2 unit classes.

Nope, no interviews yet. 🙁 But, no rejections either 🙂
We're on the semester system, I calculated I can get A's if I get 100% of the points for the rest of the semester, haha! Don't know how realistic that is, but I may only be a few points away from A-s.

Talk to the Prof. Ask what you can do to improve your performance. The more people see you are willing to work as hard as you can to improve, the more likely those couple of extra points will end up on your final grade. Be sincere and respectful, though.
