For financially-strapped ophthalmology trainees going to AAO 2019: you probably know that even though the registration is free for trainees, there are many sessions you can't enter because they require an Academy Pass which costs >$100. Now you can get the pass for free if you do something for AAO.
There is a program called Floor Manager volunteer program. You basically run the countdown timer and make sure the speakers are there on time etc for ONE session. You do tha, and get a free Academy pass. It's not for entry into subspecialty day, but still pretty good.
See attached. You gotta email the person listed in the attachment. As of last week, there were still many sessions needing a volunteer floor manager.
