Finally, the DAT is over!!! Now my summer begins...took the test this morning...here are my scores:

AA: 20
PA: 15
QR: 18
RC: 24
BIO: 19
GC: 17
OC: 21

The test seemed to be much easier and more basic than the topscore and kaplan tests. And like evryone always says the perceptual was MUCH harder!!! I'm ticked about my perceptual score because i always did so well on the practice tests. I've heard that this score can be overlooked by a lot of schools though. I am pretty pumped about my 20 AA- i guess all the hard work payed off! here's a breakdown:

Bio: ecology, evol, genetics hit the hardest--pretty basic though
GC: kinda tricky i thought...i don;t remember much
OC: straightforward, sni/sn2/e1/e2...not bad at all
RC: same as everyone's been getting: cancer, stockmarket, nervous sys passages in that order
QR: i thought it was super easy and that i did better
PAT: wow...........

Here are mt stats:

Overall: 3.1 (good liberal arts school) - bad freshmen yr (family probs), but have a + grade trend since
BCP: 3.0
Science : 2.9 (math classes brought me down)
Major: Bio

150+ hours of shadowing
Dental intersnship
lots of extracurric. activities during school ( Fraternity involvement, sports, clubs, service etc)
going on a dental mission trip in sept to honduras
Applied June 29th (everything is in) - schools should be getting my app in 2 weeks. (8th mailing)

schools applied: MUSC, UF, Boston, NYU, Case, Temple, Lousville, VCU, Tufts, Nova

any input would be great!! Thank you to everyone who posts on this site, you guys have been more help than you can imagine!

Thanks for the input. Those are some good scores. I'm really scared about the PAT now. I don't get to feel that "all done" feeling for another 2 weeks. I'm just curious, what strategy did you use on RC? I'm really confused about what I should do. You did very well, so any advice you can give would ease my mind. Thanks.

hey- for the rc...first i labeled the number of paragraphs on a scratch sheet of paper (ie- 1-16). then i read the first sentence or two if each paragraph, and i'd make of note of what each papragraph was about on the scratch sheet, including any big keywords that stuck out. i would skim the paragraph like this in 4-6 minutes. then when i read the questions, i would look for keywords and then scan my scratch sheet to quickly figure out what paragraph to look in. it worked like a charm. barrons actually recommends a version of this strategy i think. but , i think the biggest thing that helped me out, was that up until a week before i took the DAT, (when i took my topscore tests) i thought you were only allowed 50 minutes for the RC. so for 2 months i had been practicing finishing the section in 50 minutes!! when i took test and had 60 minutes i felt like i had all the time in the world and it made a huge difference! i would actually recommend training like that. good luck.

Good job, highfly413! While your PAT is a bit low, I don't think it will hold you down too much - especially given your extra-curricular activities. Isn't it nice to finally have your summer vacation start? Sit back and relax as you have earned it!

Solid scores.... your PAT might be an issue in 20+ DAT schools. A solid GPA obviously will let your through anywhere.

Good Job.
