I am starting to develop a lit of programs that I want to apply for residency and FREIDA has been awesome and useful; however it does not list any preliminary programs. Does anybody know if FREIDA has a list of preliminary programs in surgery or Medicine? it has transitional years but not preliminary years. where can I find a list like that? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

thats interesting, because they used to (5yrs ago at least)...i went to the site and double checked...anyone have info on this?

FREIDA does have prelim programs.

1. Select, as your specialty, INTERNAL MEDICINE and/or SURGERY-GENERAL, or, if you want, select both (not "transitional year" which is listed as its own specialty). Click on the "Continue" button.

2. On the next screen, click on the OPTIONAL CRITERIA button.

3. On the next screen, the 4th line is OFFERS PRELIMINARY POSITIONS. Select the option that shows only programs that offer prelim positions.

You will then get a list of preliminary programs.
