Hello people,

I completed my freshmen year and it was not a success. Due to multiple incidents and stupid mistakes, my cumulative GPA came to be a 3.443 with 28 credits. I received a B+ for Gen Chem 1 and C's for Physics 1 and Gen Chem 2.

I understand and accept what I have done. But back to the main point. Is the idea of getting into dental school on schedule a far fetched idea? I intend to put in work so I can obtain 3.6+ GPA for every semester here on out. If I am correct in my calculations, I were to obtain a 3.6 from now, my cumulative GPA would end up being around a 3.3 by the end of junior year. I am even considering summer classes to increase my GPA, despite my already low science GPA.

I do not know if it matters, but my school is among the top 5 national public schools. Furthermore, I would love to here your opinions!

No. Just get yourself together and do well from now on. You will be fine.
It does not matter whether you attend the top 5 public school or not. GPA is GPA, and if it's low, then it's a red flag.
Keep up and do well in other science courses.

3.3BCP with at least a decent DAT you'll have a shot, obviously not ideal though but its a holistic approach they're taking

Some people get in with a 3.3, others it takes multiple application cycles. Just do your best.

I'm in the same boat you're in, the advice I got was to just do really well from here on out, figure out what went wrong, and do well on the DAT.

Work hard. As long as you do significantly better in future semesters, this one semester won't hold you back.

They want to see consistency. If you had a rough start, but consistently did well for the rest of your time in undergrad, you'll be alright. ADCOMS understand that people are human. They also see that you overcame whatever struggles you were dealing with at the time and excelled.
Keep your head up and work hard, you can do it!
