Hi:
I am going to be a Freshman in Fall 2016. I need some help in planning my schedule for the first 2 years.
I have come up with a plan. Please let me know if it sounds right.

Fall 2016:
Gen Chem 2 + lab, Physics 1 + lab, Integral Calc, Gen Ed course

Spring 2017:
Organic Chem 1 + lab, Physics 2 + lab, Bio 1, Gen Ed course, Major related course

Fall 2017:
Organic Chem 2 + lab, Bio 2, Bio lab, Psychology, Gen Ed course

Spring 2018:
Biochemistry 1, Human A&P + lab, Statistics, Social Psychology, Gen Ed course

I am thinking of taking the MCAT in the summer after my Sophomore year. Since, Biochem has a prereq of Orgo chem 1 & 2, I am planning to take the Gen Chem 1 during the summer after my high school graduation in a community college.

Also, do u suggest any other courses instead of Human A&P and Social Psychology?

Other course options:
Molecular Genetics
Intro to Sociology
Philosophy courses

Thank you so much.

I wouldn't take Human A&P at all or until after the Spring 2018 semester.. It is a lot of work and you won't even get to the depth you need for med school. Other than that it looks fine

Maybe consult with your prehealth/science advisor. We don't know your major, school's recommended order of courses, or even if those courses are available those semesters (many schools only teach certain courses in Spring or Fall instead of during both semesters, which can throw off your timeline).

That said, as far as MCAT goes, you've pretty much covered all your bases with those classes if you take them. Don't nix A&P, it can be high-yield on MCAT in terms of your having a better understanding of the human body and functions overall, which a lot of mcat passages seem to focus on lately.

Take Sociology if you can use it as gen Ed. You can study it while studying for MCAT, but it will allow you to spend time on tougher subjects during content review and not hurt your GPA.

All those courses are offered both in Fall and Spring. I looked at the prereqs and everything looks good. Will definitely talk to the advisor. Sociology doesn't satisfy the Gen Ed requirement. Psychology does, which I am taking in Fall 2017. Do you think I should drop the Social Psychology which I am planning to take in Spring 2018 and take the Intro Sociology?

Is it okay to take Gen Chem 1 in community college?

Thanks everyone.
