Hello all! I'm new, so not sure about formatting, and I tried to search for this question before posting but couldn't find anything. Ok, so basically, I'm a part of the Honors College at a state school, and this Honors College required us to take a 2-semester rigorous English course our freshman year. Because of this I decided to opt out of taking a science course either semester of freshman year, as I was afraid of being overly stressed and getting bad grades. But, now I'm kinda freaking out. Basically, my question is, how can i catch back up on science classes so that I'll be able to take the MCAT by summer after my senior year (I plan on taking a gap year anyways)? Any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

If you're already taking a gap year I wouldn't freak out. I'd take your Gchem, gen bio and physics together. I strongly believe in literature and a liberal arts education making a person more well-rounded and being able to better identify with others. It's going to help you in the long run, so I wouldn't think of it as killed time.

If you think you're going to be doing a gap year, then you should be just fine because things will just be pushed back a year. You could do Gen Chem I/II sophomore, Orgo I/II junior, physics I/II senior with biochem as you are studying for the test. Now, if you don't want to be taking the MCAT in May of your senior year (hint: you don't) then you'll probably need to double up with physics during junior year. Nothing too terrible though!!

Gen chem and bio as a soph.
Orgo and phys as a Jr.
Some writing, Psych, sociology, math/stats interspersed throughout.
Optional biochem senior yr.

You might not even have to 100% take a gap year.

There may be a chance that we go to the same state school, so I'm gonna PM you!
