A a few days ago I received a message from a girl who used to be a tech at my store : Good morning, i need a loan?
Me: What type of loan?
A couple of days later, she replied saying if i could buy her a 600 dollars ipad at walmart, and she can pay me as she gets paid from her job ( she no longer works at my store, and now works for a different chain)
It looks weird, as this girl is trying so hard to make end meet, and all of a sudden wants to get a 600 dollars ipad. Honestly i dont even have one myself. If were to get one, i would probably get a cheaper one.
I have not replied yet. But it going to be a big no for me. I am no bank and cant give loans to nobody.
Has anyone ever been asked for a loan?

Tell her you might be expecting a baby soon. Never had someone ask me for a loan that wasn't direct family or significant other. Depending on your store it might be against policy?? Who knows, make something up though unless you got an extra six hundo to piss away

Just say you don't loan people money.

Just tell her sorry, can't do it. If you do it, you might not see your money again or if she pays back, she will ask you again for a larger amount.

For anyone, no matter what your income, if you can't afford to buy it using cash (not credit cards, loans, etc.) then you should not get it. I believe this is true for everything shy of a home and a car. For some people with higher incomes this should just be home, even the car should be bought in cash or not bought at all. You are doing her a favor by not allowing her to live beyond her means, although she might not see it this way.

Wrong answer... It should be
Me: I don't loan out money to other people. Sorry...

If you give her money, you think of it as a gift to her... expect NOT to get paid ever.

Would you ever loan anyone money?

I have always been told that if you loan people money you better be OKAY with losing the money since the chances of getting it back is slim to none. LOL

you should have replied, "so what do i get in return for my kindness?"

I lend to family and close friends or people my family and close friends can vouch for. Beyond that, sorry...unless there is some extenuating circumstance and I know that I or my peeps can find you to collect in the near future 😀

An ipad is not an extenuating circumstance. I mean wtf?!

How long would it take for her to pay back the $600?

She is probably asking a lot of people, hoping someone bites. You will not be the first nor last one that she asks. And if you bite, she knows she can come back to you for more

An IPAD is a luxury, not a necessity or essential item. If she saves $12 a week, she can save up enough to buy her iPad in one year. That is less than $2 a day that she has to save.

But it requires her to save and wait a year. Who wants to wait a year when she can just ask people and promise to pay it back. But will she? What leverage will you have if she decides not to pay? Even if you sue her, she has no assets to collect, and her iPad will be worth a lot less.

Watch enough daytime court tv to know these deals always go bad.

For an ipad? No way, and I wouldn't even bother being nice about telling her no. The only time I've loaned someone money, other than like for lunch, was when I loaned someone who broke their glasses, money to buy new ones. And I did so not expecting to be paid back (but I was 🙂 )

A guy can easily spend $600 at a strip club if he finds the right girl there. So the question for urself is: Does she worth the doughs?

Was this through Facebook or something? Was the account hacked or compromised?

Just buy her a Nexus. Saves you $400, and she gets a better product.

Your friend or your money. Choose one because if you go along with this, you will lose one of those guaranteed.
