Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone has a list of schools that are usually OOS friendly? I'm an Oregon resident and while OHSU does seem to favor in-state applicants to a degree, it isn't taking Oregon residents at a percentage as high as UW for example. I believe the preference for Oregon applicants is approx. 70%. Any information regarding allopathic medical schools that are friendly towards OOS would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time input!

Sincerely,

Fellow Oregonian here, I'm seeing the same problem since we only have one school, and every other school in the US seems to have a thing for in-staters.

I think the best way to look at this is US World Report, as they list OOS acceptances/percentages; MSAR only shows matriculants.

I ended up choosing schools that I thought would be cool (ranging from Portland to uber urban), and didn't really care about the acceptance rate so much. I'll see the schools during interviews and see if they match me; I'm also confident I'll get at least a couple interviews so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.

Being from the Pacific NW, you may have a shot at UW, but I couldn't say for sure.

Unless you're a resident in WAMI states, or a Rhodes Scholar, I would not waste your money on UW. They have no preference for Oregonians.
