Can someone please tell me some schools that offer 1-year MPH's for students without requiring a minimum of two years work experience? I am a senior taking a gap year and would like to pursue an MPH during the time off. However, many schools I've looked at (Northwestern, JHU, etc.) ask for full-time work experience, which I don't have.

I'm wondering how gap year pre-med students fresh out of UG manage to get into such 1-year programs. Any help would be really appreciated! I'm getting frustrated searching on google, so I was hoping some of you have direct experience regarding this to share!

i think they're rare because work importance is so valuable to the overall training, since even many of the "full term" MPH programs require a couple years of experience prior to matriculating. GW has an online accelerated MPH that's a year long, though i'm not sure if they also require x years of work experience.

MSPH at yale is 1 yr if you choose chronic disease epidemiology track. check out MSPH programs! they're different in scope (more foundational knowledge building) than MPH programs, but all depends what you're looking for.

TDI at Dartmouth is your best bet, they're 100% open to UG kids. GW is pretty okay with no work exp, as are more regional schools.

I got my MPH in 1 year from a school that no longer allows applicants w/ no doctoral degrees, so unfortunately that is off the table. Otherwise I'd highly highly recommend the program there.

Rumor is NU lets its' own Global Health minors submatriculate in, from what I've heard. Y'know, in case you happen to be in Evanston rn.

MSPH is useless, imo.

Edit: I see Ollie beat me to it.

Thomas Jefferson University has a one year option for their MPH program. They don't require two years of work experience.

University of Memphis has one and you can do it completely online too (as long as you find your own practicum experience in your home town)

NU recently changed its requirements: "A minimum of two years full-time, professional work experience in health care, public health, or medically related research. Three years of medical or dental school in the US or Canada or a GPA of 3.5 or higher may be substiuted for the professional work experience. Foreign medical graduates should have a minimum of one year of residency or fellowship training in the US or Canada prior to matriculation."

UC Davis. One of the very few in the nation that allow undergrads to go straight in after their bachelors.
