Has anyone successfully applied to a Fulbright research grant in Asia without having experience in the host country beforehand??

Also, any tips on reaching out to foreign contacts and building a grant proposal would be appreciated!

thanks

I dont reccommend you apply to china without having experience in the country. First of all having some type of contact or contact with contacts is the proper way to approach situations like this since it can be rude to request favors without prior introductions. also you need at least 2 years of lang. Im not sure about the other asian countries but for this one you really cant just randomly try to do research there.

You're doing your research on this on SDN? Wowza.

The key for Fulbright grants is to have demonstrated proficiency with the local language/culture and to have demonstrated interest in it as well. So you can evaluate based on that.
