What's considered a "full courseload?" B/c of my low UG GPA, I've been advised to take a full load of sciences...some people call that 5 classes. If I take 5 sciences w/labs, I'm looking at 22+ credits!!! Can't be...so credit-wise, what am I looking at? I'm trying to plan out next semester. I'd like to take Bio 2, Physics I, Gen Chem I, and calc. That would be 17.5 credits. Thoughts?

I calculated things roughly a couple of months ago, but this is what I remember (all approximate), calculated by the DO criteria:

UG 2.9 (no science GPA, unless one neuroscience class counts in which case it's a 3.3)
graduate (MS in journalism, I realize this doesn't really matter) 3.6

post-bacc thus far:

Stats: A
Algebra w/trig: A

Taking this semester (and the current grade I have in each class):

Bio I: A+ (4.5 credits)
PreCalc w/computer lab: A+ (5 credits)
Intro to Public Health (fairly useless class and no point in taking it, but oh well): A+ (3 credits)

So there you have it...

I would take it slower at first and take maybe 2-3 hard science classes max at once. Getting A's in your post-bac is all that matters. You are better off with a 4.0 and lighter course load then a lower gpa with a higher one (as long as you are not taking 1 class at a time). When coming from a low gpa you need to do whatever is possible to dominate every class you take. If you need to pull back on the course load then so be it.

Full time is considered 12+ credit hours/semester. I would agree with the others that maybe 2-3 science classes and maybe another non-science class if you need it.
