Which d-schools offer full-tuition or "full-ride" scholarships, and what makes you competitive for them?

I'm a Hispanic (Mexican-American) male, are there any d-schools that love underrepresented minorities?

PM me if you need stats. Thanks

I do not know about a full ride, but many dental schools recruit minority applicants, particularly black/hispanic/native american females. I would give the admissions offices a call if I were you.

The purpose of these forums is to worry out loud about how your 3.7gpa and 22 DAT might not be good enough to get you into Harvard.

Get a clue 👍 🙂 +pad+ +pity+ :horns: :barf:  :spam:

Can someone tell me how to apply to dental school? Is there an application to fill out? Can someone tell me how to fill it out?

get a clue about what.. El sol asked question and I answered his post. He might not of liked what I had to say but none the less this is a public board.

i have a question..

what is more competitive... a 4.0 and 26 DAT or 2.6543 gpa and 16 DAT. i'm worried that if i get the higher scores that dental schools are worried that i may school med school instead of dental? 😕 😕 😕

basically, should i do poorly do improve my chances at d-school? this is the toughest decision i have ever made and i dunno where else to turn. i know u guys r the experts so pleaze offer advise. THANK you SO muchhh!!!!! 🙂 🙂 😍 :luck:

Are you sure you typed correctly? Of course a 4.0GPA and 26 DAT will be MUCH more competitive than a 2.65 GPA and 16 DAT. That's a dumb question...And what is this "toughest decision" that you have to make? In any case, just do the best that you can on the DAT no matter what your GPA is. That shows that you've got the smarts and that maybe the reason you have low GPA is of personal problems like having to work,etc...you know what i mean. Also, your thinking is backward. If you have low stats then someone could say you gave up on med and crawled over to dental. But if you have high stats and apply to dental, then why would anyone say you want to go to med?

http://www.adea.org/AADSAS/default.htm. Create an account and start filling out the application. The instructions are (almost) all there. And if you're still confused, post a question on this forum or call the AADSAS service line. You've got a lot of work to do my friend

Why do you deserve free money to goto dental school because of your race? 😕

I'm still trying to decide if bionerd realizes that whiskeysour and toofache are both being sarcastic and he/she is being just as sarcastic "right back at ya." Why the obsession with med school?

so far this whole thread has been friggin' hilarious! bionerd, you trip me out! please keep this thread going so i'll have something to amuse myself...
but seriously, i have a serious question that needs a serious answer and by serious i mean serious...

i want to apply to about 37 schools, maybe 37.5 (cuz one of the schools doesn't really count as a real school) but i think all the schools will know that i applied to 37 schools and then they'll think i'm a fruit-cake and won't accept me, or maybe worse they'll think i'm really serious about getting into dental school and they'll all accept me! then what do i do?!! if i get into all 37 schools i couldn't make a decision on my own!! plez help me choose now so i won't have to in the future!!

No, really. There are several guys at my undergrad that don't care about studying and want to work the whole underrepresented race thing (even though their parents make a better living than the average American). So you want to get a free ride because of race? Why? Tell me why you deserve free money over somebody who has struggled their entire lives in poverty and through decades of hard work to achieve the goals of a 20 year old? Why do you presume that because you are a certain DNA-code that you can just say "Which d-schools offer full-tuition or 'full-ride' scholarships, and what makes you competitive for them? I'm a Hispanic (Mexican-American) male, are there any d-schools that love underrepresented minorities?"

Thanks for assuming that I'm like one of those "guys" at your "undergrad that don't care about studying and want to work the whole underrepresented race thing." 👍

Yeah I'm just another underrepresented minority trying to milk the system while driving a beamer to school and sleeping through classes. 🙄

To think that some of these people will be my future colleagues

all right all right...i get the sarcasm.. .arg i'm just so stressed out and tense right now that i have absolutely no appetite for jokes..eh...all the practice PAT is giving me a headache :scared:

maksidaa, ok here's a serious answer: apply to 54.5 schools because to apply to all 55 would be really desperate and any less would be risky, doncha think?

I have been offered a full tuition scholarship at NYU. It is renewable for 4 years if I maintain a 3.2 GPA. My stats were 3.7 GPA (4.1 non-science, 3.4 science) and AA/PAT 22/27 (my RC score was 50 percentile but I scored 30 (100.0 percentile) on QR. My PAT percentile was 99.9). I did one year of research in speech motor control, with 2 presentations at national conferences and 1 publication in a peer-reviewed journal. I am an international student. Good luck :luck: .

Wow!!! Congrats!!

Thanks, Rook. Not only have I been awarded a full tuition scholarship, but also I will be entitled to some other bonuses as well. “As a Dean’s Academic Enrichment Scholar, you will be invited to attend seminars with guest lecturers, accept prime assignments during our community outreach screenings and participate in our newly created Admissions Ambassadors Program. In addition, you will receive your VitalBook at no charge and a $500 credit for your use at the University book centers.”

I was not expecting to get any scholarship, but the award letter came totally unexpectedly. I think I was extremely lucky. I wish everyone the very best of luck!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

this whole thread is highly entertaining  keep it up guys 👍

some people, man.... lol

Hey congrats Angle Jr. sweet deal!

Thanks, duh? I hope this will not end up as a quarter ride or half ride 😍 :luck: :luck:
